  • What a lovely day it is - sunny/cloudy and warm
Garden project is now finished ish, just a few little additions to do
Went to a fairly local, family run GC this morning. What a pleasure it was, friendly staff, good prices and everything I wanted.
Bought shrubs for the shady/wet border and bought a tray of bunny rabbits 3.99 to give it some colour
BM had Arum lily in pots, so I bought one as the centre piece of this new border
Emptied a potato bin and got approx 2kg of charlottes, will be picking carrots to go with them

Catching up a bit over a beer Loads of stuff happened on here recently, but I keep missing it due to 'domestic chores' & the eternal hallway, which incidentally is now very pink plaster coloured
After beer I'm off outside to weed the insect/wild flower & grass garden, on which a single red poppy appeared on the morning of the 1st

I designed a crocheted tooth fairy pouch and it has been very popular. What do you like making? Any works in progress?
I have a few WIP's going at the moment. But the one I am working on is ankle socks. I am still new at knitting, only started a couple of years ago. There is some good knitting podcast on YouTube at the moment. I love watching them. You making anything?

                • Good evening,

Just got back from the plot. Done quite a lot of weeding and digging while I've been down there. One of the other plot holders came over and use council weed killer on the beds I am not using. I've also decided that I wanted a herb bed, so I have moved some of my herbs over.

Also while I was weeding a bee decided to sting me. OUCH! Got a big red mark now on side of my body. I was only minding my own business when it attacked me.

Only just put tea in the oven. Nice Sunday dinner to tea

                  • Good evening Folks, it has been cold and wet here today, and the heating is on, OH wanted it on and I was to scared to tell her to get a brush in her hand and work up a sweat, I have been potting on some geraniums, potted some in a compost, soil and gravel mix with some 6x manure, I will try some in a similar mix using a slow release feed rather than the 6x, also lifted some potatoes today and some are quite large, ideal for baked potatoes, I wonder if I could charge more for them,(I wonder if I am brave enough to charge). Marie, if you like fuchsia you should try planting out any that take you fancy, you would be surprised how many are quite hardy, just take some cuttings of what you want to keep, hope you get well soon Jay try a large toady, it may not help your ailment but if its large enough it wont matter for a time. Well I wish you all a good night, have a pleasant week ahead, with regards telling my wife about a brush, she would likely heat up swinging it at me. Goodnight

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                    • Thanks for the advice, Rary. Yes I love fuchsias. Perhaps they would be OK to get non hardy ones. Last winter was so very mild. Good idea on taking the cuttings as backup

Get better soon Jay, you'll soon be back to getting on with gardening.

                      And Carrie - ouch

Another footie evening so leaving hubby to watch it in peace. I can find better things to do
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Sounds great, you can progress to welly socks next. If there is a knit and stitch near you then they are also a great place to learn new techniques, chat and have a laugh. My knit and stitch group are making twiddlemuffs for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. They have proved popular and I was asked to come up with something for a gentleman who felt the twiddlemuff was too feminine but still felt that then concept of one would benefit him greatly. I designed and crocheted a tool belt with crocheted tools, each tool with a different 'twiddle' on it. I will hand it in on Tuesday to our lady who passes them on to the drop in cafe for Alzheimer's UK, then I will start on a twiddle for a wee girl who needs a distraction from scratching her eczema itch.

Anyway, up early for my day shift tomorrow so will take this opportunity to say goodnight all. Jay, I hope you feel better soon, laberynthitis is awful.

Sweet dreams of good weather and healthy crops everyone!
