    • It was our sports day yesterday, in slight drizzle. I had the very great pleasure of watching the 5yo bring home gold in the egg and Spoon, by dint of CONCENTRATING REALLY HARD and KEEPING A STEADY PACE. Both things he finds nearly impossible in normal circs, so I was hard put not to blub. .. :')

BB, thanks for the Bazingas! ! The ball pit sequence is one of my all time faves.

We've managed to get our first ever new pots, and the garlic I thought was rotting seems to be drying OK. o

I'm off to a writer's conference this weekend, first time I've left the 2yo more than a few hours. Looking forward to the time off! Happily I won't have to worry about harvesting or watering as it's too cold and wet!

      • Morning all,

I have been making jam too VC; 4 pots of raspberry jam made which I thought was slightly too sweet when making so I added some lemon zest and it made it nice and tasty

        Jay, Nicos,
How is this different from Banana Bread if you don't mind me asking? I make lots of Banana Bread so what is different with this recipe?
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

        • Morning,

Waiting for my new phone to be delivered. Currently on number 15 and I am number 37 on the list. Of to the allotment later to check if everything is okay. No work to be done on it. Had the other beds weed killed by the other guy on the allotment. Just waiting for it to die back now.

                • So much for being out in the garden all day, still not got there. Forgot I had to pick up my car from having a service. Took in on Monday but there was a problem with a part, so took all this time. Luckily under warranty. So home just going to have a tea and put washing on and then out I go.

                  • Cilla I always find if I'm planning to spend all day on the plot, I never get there till after lunch. If I'm just 'popping down for a minute' I'm there for hours...

                    • Afternoon everyone, not too bad a day, sunny at times, so nice to be pottering around in. Which I have been.
Planted some more carrots, lettuce, radishes and lettuce (again)
My runners have beans! Also lots of black fly and not enough ladybirds. Hubby has been removing quite a few with a damp cloth. No spraying allowed
Picked a few more spring onions as well, washed, and eaten at lunch
                      Have a great day everyone

                        Mine too!
                        Still tasty though.
Not sure if I'll make it again...it had a lot of milk in it didn't it?
I wonder if that was the problem?
Most of the other recipes had bicarb of soda in which I don't like the after taste of...hence picking this recipe.

Which recipe do you use Trip?

Which recipe do you use Trip?

The one I use is below..

Banana Bread Recipe: Prep time: 10 minutes: Cook time: 55 minutes: Yield: Makes one loaf

Great thing is no need for a mixer, just a sturdy fork and a spoon
And you can mix everything in one bowl!!

                          INGREDIENTS
                          2-3 very ripe bananas, peeled
                          1/3 cup melted butter
                          1/2 cup sugar
                          1 egg, beaten
                          1 teaspoon vanilla extract
                          1 teaspoon baking soda
                          Pinch of salt
                          1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

                          METHOD
                          Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/butter a 4x8-inch loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until completely smooth.
Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
Mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
Mix in the flour. Ensure all is well mixed!!

The beauty of this recipe is that at this point (before you add the mixture to the loaf pan), you can get creative or just bake as is. For example, I woudl recommend adding and mixing in crumbled up Oreos (about 3/4 of pack)..Don't crumble them up too much.
Or you can add other things such as almonds, flaked chocolate etc etc...

Pour the final batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour at 350°F (175°C), or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove from oven and cool completely on a rack. Remove the banana bread from the pan. Slice and serve. (A bread knife helps to make slices that aren't crumbly.)

Nicos: You don't taste the baking soda in this recipe imo..
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Didn't get as far as Sheringham - got off at Aylesbury - nice round trip taking 1&1/2 hours - no time for kids to get bored - In this weather I'm sticking to San Miguel but I'll remember the advice for future :-)
