    • Extremely cold last night. Needed a nightie and the winter quilt!

The potatoes are really struggling now. Haven't been to look at the toms yet - have spent far too long reading the awful news. Have managed not to look at any pictures or videos.

Will be thinking about France today.

      • Morning all!! It's FRIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

        Congrats Deano

Weekend has not kicked off to the best of starts for me unfortunately..Ride-on lawnmower would not start yesterday evening, so no lawns mowed yet....and then later last night when I was just about to pour myself a well earned glass of red after baking a raspberry crumble, blackcurrant cake and Oreo Banana Bread, I heard an almighty bang Then a lot of popping noises..

Turns out it was one of our large feature windows cracking and cracks spreading throughout it...The glass has not fallen out thankfully but it is now like frosted glass as it has cracked throughout..This is green anti-sun glass and is a big pane of glass too; think 4.1m high by approx 1m wide
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

            • Outch Trip....that's going to cost

We've just been looking at a farm for sale...SIL is interested

Doubt they'll make the move, but it was an interesting experience...and ridiculously cheap!

Problem with having family to stay is that you end up buying stuff to serve you wouldn't normally buy...and then pigging out on it...me thinks my diet will have to kick start again soon
              Still......mmmmmm...

              • Afternoon all! I'm just running around and not achieving much today. Son no2 off on a trip but needs to be in Oxford on Tuesday for a piano exam. A few hours before he is due to leave we receive a text message to day he's left his music at his teachers house - 2 hour round trip in the opposite direction. now if he had packed last night like I asked...grrr! It would have saved me a trip!
Looking forward to tomorrow though...I have the day booked with friends to do a copper enamelling course. Should be fun

I have to admit, newborn babes also look somewhat like ET to me and that might be a polite way of putting it. But once the skin starts smoothing out and all the little features came in to play then they do look very cute. You should have loads of good times ahead

Ate the first small marrow today which I sliced and pan fried in olive oil along with some summer squash. I was thrilled that my daughter decided that she really likes marrow since she's not tasted it before. So think I will be growing those again.

Set up a "lettuce bar" today, bought a raised planter thing and have planted all my lettuce seedlings in it. Fingers crossed that the slugs and ants can't get past the legs of the planter which are stood inside some tins filled with water. I hope I don't find any floaters though or I'll feel like a murderer Hoping it just acts as a deterrent. Time will tell.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                              • Good evening Folks, it has been a right miserable day here today, lots of rain and though not cold still feels as if it is, we have the heating on for a bit of comfort, and had to switch on the light as it is so dull, I am wondering if there is a chance of me looking cute once/if the skin ever smooths out, Marie when ever I have anything with legs supporting it I cover the legs with grease which gives a good barrier to slugs and snails etc. so I would recommend that you give that a try, not much done in the garden today due to weather, did feed my flower baskets and deadheaded the plants, which is a daily job. Well I wish you all a good weekend and hope you get all the little jobs that need done attended to, after reading snoops post I am off to change the quilt to a summer one, as shared body heat from cuddling one another is hard to beat, and no, I wont be putting on a nightie. Goodnight
