Marie when ever I have anything with legs supporting it I cover the legs with grease which gives a good barrier to slugs and snails etc.

Do you shave your legs before or after applying grease?

You want the razor to glide over your skin, so I would suggest you apply the grease before you start to shave your legs, please let me know how you get on, and if I ever need to shave my legs I will learn from your experience, after all is that not what the Forum is about, passing information?

Set up a "lettuce bar" today, bought a raised planter thing and have planted all my lettuce seedlings in it. Fingers crossed that the slugs and ants can't get past the legs of the planter which are stood inside some tins filled with water.

As well as rary's grease you can use 'vaseline' or 'hair gel' or you can buy copper bands for a £1 or£2 that do the same job and are quite decorative. I have oodles of hair gel left over from years ago when I had some hair - I knew it would come in handy one day :-)

My radio silence this week is due to the world's busiest week - so I have the option of sidling orf to bed, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, but maybe the tiniest sojourn to the musical byways...?

Tell you what -I have half a glass of cooking-apple-and-orange on the go, and I'll tie that up as a starter so that I don't get lost. BB's not given me a leg up - so I'll jump in with an oldie that was played in the local tonight...

We had a lovely BBQ outside last night...needed fleeces though!...yup , that's 3 in the past 7 days!
Having sampled all types of French deserts over the past few days I put my hand to the traditional gooseberry fool.
Delish...even if I do say so myself!
Simple and quick to make , but a massively refreshing flavour burst!

Sadly SIL returns home today....but brill news is that our daughter will now come out in August ( and he'll look after the farm)
Pity they couldn't come together though.
