A quick question.
Would I be allowed to take potted plants/fruit bushes across to Ireland ?
Or would Customs frown at such a thing ?
Thanks........because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

Good evening Folks, a lovely day here not done much but run around after grandchildren, now I am exhausted, so it will be an early bed for me tonight, got the other two first thing tomorrow. Lifted the last of my early potatoes and planted more leeks, and my onions are ready to lift, it is usually the end of August for that so must try and take advantage of this. Well I wish you all a good night, hope you enjoy this weather, if I am taking advantage of an early crop I wonder if someone will take advantage of an early bed. Goodnightit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Don't know Kevin - Goggle it? Scorchio of an evening here, I'm sweating - not done that since I "changed"
Son's face is still swollen. I've told him to try ice, but if it's not well down in the morning he may have to revisit the dentist for antibiotics. 38 and I'm still worrying about him. Before you ask, he's my youngest and has no partner so I'm not interfering!

Evening all, feel sorry for peeps stuck inside this weather,at least when tis cold we can warm up some, not so easy to cool off, what i have done before is put cold tap water into a hotty,it is helpful at night,FF we never loose that mothering instinct, wonder if he has an abscess, sweet dreams all and hope for a restful sleep,we dare not leave a window open,as we in a bungalow, plus most street lights go out at midnight, and a fan is to noisysigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Evening all - took 3 grandsons to Newcastle today - weather was brilliant but train was late on way home and a couple of coaches were boiling as air system was defective. However plenty of fluid kept the worst at bay :-) Delay meant we did not get home till 2100 instead of 2000 but all's well that ends well :-)Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Evening all...Flo, it doesn't matter what age your kids are or even if they have a partner you still worry. Hope your son feels better soon.
Lottie, I think you are wise to keep windows closed, especially during the day. I think all you are doing is letting hot air in if the windows are open.
Can we never get a happy medium?!
Well I hope you all have as comfortable night as can be in this heat...see you in the morning. Goodnight all.sigpic

Morning all
I didn't get to play on the vine much yesterday (so sorry if I missed anything important) lots of gardening followed by lots of fishing followed by the best lighting display I've seen since I was in Malta ( when I was 10)
Today's excitement is our 3 monthly shopping trip to the mainland.
Have a good day everyone

A quick inspection of GH kids now .......... One of the Pretty Purple chilli plants had wilted right over last night, so I gently popped a loving stake in to see if it helps .....looking poorly though. Maybe just too hot!!!!!

..........still having to wear waterproof trousers to walk Toby across the field - long grass still wet!!!
So full-on sun - me in waterproofs and sunglasses(!) at 6 something silly o'clock - and some ponderous, thick rain-drops plonking haphazardly on my head ...........look up to see a darkish, random cloud floating high above me ........And still so hot!

Overcast here. I see last month was the hottest June ever and the 14th month of record-breaking temperatures. I guess lots of you would dispute that, from your comments about the weather, but here the weather is unbelievably hot. Due to get hotter again next week. Indoors we're OK (stone walls half a metre thick) but outdoors is parched. You go outside after 10 am and it's like stepping into a fan oven, what with the heat and wind. I remember a while back, a Brit living down south in Spain saying she wouldn't mind an additional 4.4 ºC (predicted rise in temperature due to climate change at that time), but I definitely do.
Anyway, scorchio aside, have a nice day everyone.
