  • Mornin n'all n'all!

After a very hot and humid night we had strong winds followed by a sudden downpour ...cor...how refreshing was that?

I think the garden must have been exceptionally grateful for that!

Snoop, I was just reading on the BBC about how they think the decline of cuckoos in the UK is due to the shortage of food..(...due to water shortage) on their migration route to and from Africa.

    Here you are...

            • Back from the Docs, I have to have an urgent? Liver scan
I've got a fatty liver, not surprised as I am 2 stone over weight. This scan is just to prove it lol
Hubby has gone to the local hospital to make an appointment for me.
Not that I couldn't, but he was bored. Need to find him another project don't I
Blood sugar and pressure were ok though

              • Spectacular thunderstorms here, started at 6am (must have got to you around 7-8ish, CG? They were headed your way!). So loud, and so close, you could hear the POP of the lightning hitting things before the thunder followed. I ran round the house checking the boys, because I could hear someone wailing... turned out it was one of the cats who was scared silly. The boys, in spite of the fact I went into both of their rooms while the combination of thunder, hail stones 1cm across, high winds and torrential rain meant Husband and I had to shout at one another, slept right through BOTH storms and had to be woken at 7.30!

Water in through the back door, the front door, the utility room wall, the kitchen roof, and three of the four skylights. We often get a bit through one of those points, but not all at once!!! Joy.

I daren't go look at the plot yet. We had nearly 30 degrees yesterday, and now flash floods and hail... Eek!

Hope you're all surviving the weather, whatever it's doing to you.

Still hot here but there's a breeze that's keeping it pleasant. No rain, no thunder, no complaints

                        • Afternoon
Blimey yesterday was hot and I was at a funeral , it was too hot to do anything garden related later. Even sat out til 10pm was slightly cooler than inside.
Had some major storms this morning round about, wind was mental, thought my runner bean arch was going over so tied string to it and attached it to window , my potato stems have been battered so think il pull it all back with some netting , bit of a Heath Robinson effort required otherwise you can't walk past them.
Right , it's trying to brighten up. Better tackle something and check the tadpoles and froglets.
Been ordering some stuff for mum and dad, one being a key for disabled toilets. Handy things.

                            • Someone asked if there was a favourite bloom at the sweet peashow Saturday last, having found the camera card reader I present what I think was the 'star' of the show .....

... it is as yet un named, due to ongoing 'stability' tests to make certain that it comes true to seed over several generations, all being well it should be available in 2-3 years time.

                              • afternoon all - I've been on work adventures down to Bristol so entirely managed to miss both days of summer my toms have bore the brunt of it though!!

In semi-gardening related news I have just tried my first doughnut peach (not home grown) - very nice but the fur was very prickly and now I'm having a mild allergic reaction to it. Must remember to get the razor out first next time
