  • Well, let's see if this one gets through. Recent posts on this and other threads seem to have been disappearing into the ether. Don't want anyone to think I've not been thinking of you.

    Have a good day, everyone.

      Not sure why.
I've just checked your settings and they are fine.

If it doesn't sort itself out soon I'll contact Admin for you...but yup, it does seem strange.

        • Prunch, everyone! (well if you can have prevening as in pre-evening, I'm guessing that you can have prunch, as in pre-lunch )

          Anyway - all well?

          It's FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDAY !

          *ahem.

Now, tell me, was there a thread recently on sweetpeas that didn't flower/buds dropped off? I can't find it, and that's how my sweet peas are. As the seeds were kindly given to me by BB, I really wanted to enter the blooms in the VVS - but there won't be any at this rate! I seem to recall the that advice was 'chop 'em all down and they can start again', but I might be wrong, and this course of action does seem mighty radical! Clues, anyone?

          • Wot ho Hazel

I've had quite a few dropped blooms, close inspection today shows a greenfly infestation little sods are right in the unfurled leaves Gonna give them a spray with warm soapy water after the sun moves off them this evening.

            • Arfernoon all, another hot day, admitedly cooler than the last few, still hot for me,no sign of rain.
Hazel the other year i choped the top shoot of my sweet peas early in the season, put in water and they rooted,so if it were me i would give it a go,leave a few inches of stem and feed, then get the camera ready for your before and after shots.

                • I'll inspect for greenfly, although I don't recall any this year. I normally plant sweetpeas in a wigwam at the Hill (where they get covered in greenfly!) but I can't cut them as often as I'd like; so this year they are in pots outside the back door. Might be they need feeding, I guess.

                    • Oh dear. The other day I was convinced Tuesday was Wednesday. Today I am convinced it's Friday. The sooner my daughter gets back to school and we have more of a routine the happier I shall be!Thanks to Hazel for the day of the week update. Edit: I meant I thought this was Saturday. I'm beginning to wonder about myself now, I fear I'm having a few too many senior moments to be comfortable with. *insert embarrassed smile)

Not a desease. Identified when the flower buds turn upwards and go yellow and then drop off the stem. Cause usually happens when there is a spell of warm days followed by cold nights. Fortunately it soon passes.

I must pop over to the hill & drop off the copy I promised but forgot to bring to the spud day

Thanks, BB. I'm going to be tied up with family stuff the weekend of the Hill Show, so can't catch up with you then, but I'll be back over your way again for the spud day for sure.
