^^^where did you get the egg and bacon plants Sal?
Greenleaves, you surely have heard of an egg plant,(aubergine)
and have you never heard of the group of soldiers who were out hunting a gang or rebels, when they spied something waving on a bush, the officer went to investigate, then he came running back telling his men to scatter, it was a hambush. So there you are egg and bacon plants

good afternoon Folks, I intend to do away with one of my benches in the greenhouse, and construct some shelving to replace it, what space would you recommend between the shelves on a 5ft. high unit? I will be using 2x2 for the frame.
Going out now to make a start will see you later

Have returned from Dobbies where seeds are 50% off with a handful for next year to join the others in the 3 seed boxes I currently have - this despite handing out around 20 to a couple of newbies on the site a few weeks back :-)

Greenleaves started it, it was him that asked the question (I was going to put in, silly question, but him being a Mod I might suffer, I have enough weeds )

It looks like we have another broody!
OH has suggested we go on an egg hunt...for fertile chook eggs....might be the last chance for chucks this year!
Fingers crossed will you?
YES!!!...we have eggs
We managed to find a Copper Marans breeder and she reluctantly agreed to sell us 5 eggs.
They are supposed to be 'recorded at the post office' or something.
Actually I am supposed to be registered so they can send me leg tags to show they are pure breed, and she's only suppose to sell them to registered people.
I said I just wanted to hatch them with one of my gals and have any gals for their eggs and not breeding and didn't care about the leg tags .
So...we came away with 5.
I was going to suggest 4 , 2 under each wing but she said 6 would be too many but she'd cope with 5.
Who am I to argue...we'll have to see!
€4 per egg
Watch this space in 3 weeks time!
I think I best mention this on the chook section eh?....
For those who have joined the Vine since the turn of the year, The GR - Gardener's Rest is a virtual hostelry where Rary masterfully avoids paying for a round of drinks,
Thats not right, it just unfortunate circumstances that have led to you thinking I avoid paying
With that statement you have cut me to the quick. no hold it, that's what you have to be when AP is on the bell, in fact very quick

Good evening Folks, it stayed dry for most of the day here but the rain started about 4.30 and it has got steadily heavier and colder, I was going to make my shelving for the greenhouse, but that is now on hold, till its a bit warmer and drier, I had my onions out to dry in the air but forgot to put them inside, now I will need to put them into the greenhouse to dry off. Well I am away to see whats on the telly, or read a book or whatever, its too early for bed. Well I wish you all a good night, I see Nicos paid £4. for an egg I(well OH) pay less than that to have a 2 egg omelet with ham and cheese. Goodnight
