  • Nice selection, BB

It's been Friday night pub night, curry* and watch the tail end of a film with Michael Douglas (er - that is, a film starring Michael Douglas. I didn't share the curry with him) - so it's late already and I'm running in the morning, so I'll sit this one out tonight.

I've loved putting the house to bed to the sound of that Journey track - familiar, but not overly so. A great place to tie the string to tomorrow evening, I think.

    Nos da, folks!

*a disappointing veg biryani. Strong on the biryani bit, sadly lacking on the veg bit.

    • PS Welsh solo artists? How could you forget Tom Jones - this is a cover but it passes the test of adding something to the original, I think...

      Right - that's it - bedtime!!!

        • Good Saturday morning to all ...!!!

..........no beach walkies today - after going to the beach with Toby dog yesterday in the rather heavy 'sea mist' and with no sign of it clearing up - we had brekkie (sausage/bacon/mushroom/fried egg) sarnies - decided to call it a week. Quickly packed/cleared up: left at 11.15...............

After sat nav directed us via coastal roads for best of 70 miles, stuck behind caravans (yawn), buses (yawn, yawn) and folks 'tootling along' (triple yawn) ...............eventually we got to road signs for M5 Bristol .......... crawling traffic, stop-start for mile upon weary mile then eventually we get onto the M5..........car park........!!!!!!!!!!

Shan't bore you anymore - so yup, it took us a mind numbing 6 hours and 15 minutes to get home .....my beautiful Labrador is amazing - he didn't complain once...!!!!! He was mighty pleased to see his favourite tree to 'lean up' when we got home, though!!!!!

Anyway, lovely hols - great to be home!

Four loads of washing now gently blowing in the breeze/sun - satisfying ....

Everything in garden looks super-duper green and BIG!!!
GH - toms have taken over - I can see a cucumber nodding at me - chillis are all still alive and flowering ........
And my goodness, you should see the courgette that's grown - it's HUGE!!! Happy Days!!!

          Have a super Saturday!

          • Morning all, that was some journey Susie
Overcast here, but should brighten up later. Must put some washing on ....
We officially have three gluts - spuds, tomatoes and runners
That means they every meal has to include at least two of the above, preferably all three.
Finally forked out for the Micky Mouse tickets yesterday, £1300 for 4 of us. Quite good value once I looked at the extortionate price of Universal Studios - arghh
Anyway, back to today, work this afternoon and more picking of our glut veg later
Never frozen runners successfully, any hints and tips, likewise tomatoes
            Have a fab Saturday everyone

              • Lovely post Susie...made me smile.
Sally, I'm really not keen on frozen beans (in fact, I hate them!) toms, I usually make sauces using any other homegrown surplus.(for pasta, bol, shep pie etc) Roast/fry in a pan with onions, garlic and whatever herbs you have grown/have on hand. Reduce down as much as possible to save on freezer space. I also add chopped courgettes to some for pasta sauce...boys seem to like it with meatballs. I like a splash of red wine vinegar in my sauce, but I usually add that after the defrost.

Morning all....I'm really on a go slow this morning! (Nothing to do with fizz cos we went to the cinema last night ) I still haven't bought my birthday present. My Dad has given me an extra big treat to go towards it (think I'm number one there ) I just don't want to make a mistake. More research I think....

                          • Welcome back from your hols, Susie That was quite the car trip - my idea of an absolute nightmare as I get car sick quite easily!

VC - yes H*mebase is one of my favorite places for absolute plant bargains. The reductions are wonderful.

Dull morning but not cold. Pleased to see the recent rain has given the lettuce a growth spurt. So if I can time it right, will be good to have lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber all at the same time for those salads.

Sadly there will be no beetroot as they had been munched on and not by me And the chard has been hit rather badly but thankfully those plantings have allowed my new runner plants to shoot up before the slugs can get in to ruin them The runners are slightly more important.

                            Have a good day all.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

I didn't remember it properly but here's the proof! If it was taken in 2014 they need to update their slogan to 27 years of Quality Broken biscuits
