  • Morning all
Busy day today, and all inside work because the weather is unpleasant.
    Have a good day everyone

    • Morning all, cloudy start to the day but the forecast is promising
We have had an oleander plant for years. This year we moved it 10 feet to the other side of the patio and boy has it flourished. It's had loads of white flowers on all through this alledeged summer.
Came home from work yesterday and it was on the floor.
The sun was so hot on the patio it keeled over.
Two lots of watering later and it's back upright again. Will keep an eye on this in future
Bean glut is definately over, just about managed enough for dinner last night.
It will be something with tomatoes today, got tons of them
Dug up some scabby charlottes yesterday, they will be peeled and in the pot tonight.
      Have a great day everyone

      • Morning all Looks like another nice day ahead. Bean glut is definitely waning NannySally - I didn't pick as many today as normal. Nice to see a few more tomatoes ripening but not enough to feed us all as yet. The gardener's delight are really big this year and taking ages to ripen as well. Hope everyone enjoys their day.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

          • Morning all! I am back ... well got back yesterday but had too many jobs to do last night to check in here. Lawns are now neat, instead of being knee-high Neighbour watered my greenhouse, thank you Ann Allotment meeting this morning; it is like I have never been away.

We were told the route we were walking was 55 miles - we ended up walking 78 miles in 6 days, so we were feeling pretty pleased with ourselves, considering it was a first 'big' walk for both of us. I may have got the bug

Hoping that there are plenty of beans at the plot. Bit overcast here but hopefully it won't rain until later. Enjoy your day.

Amazing what people throw in skips these days.

Some people even use them for food when they give up their allotment.

                • I've just been out sorting my first 'seasonal damage', courtesy of last night/this morning's wind.

I had a low blowaway frame thing sitting on the patio that housed my chilli and pepper plants. It was tied to fence posts in several places but the wind won regardless. It's now in the bin.

I'm not too fussed tbh, it was bought a couple of years back in a sale somewhere and it wasn't great quality to start with so I'm not going to miss it. I'm more fed up because it's a sign the weather is changing again and not for the better.

It's far too windy to be doing anything else outside now so the rest of my day will be spent with the washing basket I think.

Hope you're all surviving the weather today.

Looks like rain coming in his afternoon - did not get to the allotment yesterday so was hoping to get up today - think I'll chance it as poly items will need watering

                      • Afternoon all. Well the kids are having a sleep over at grandma and granddads so peace and quiet reigns at our house for a bit.
Very gusty here at the moment. My runner beans have collapsed. Don't think various animals visiting from the neighbours have helped. Went and spent some more of my vouchers today. Got a Honeyberry and a lovely lavender plant. Still got £10 left and its burning a hole in my purse to be spent tomorrow
Going out now to rescue the runner beans.
                        Have a good afternoon everyone

                        • NVG ~ sympathies re runners ............ I too have had to rescue mine - I just stood there holding the blummin' frame in my arms, trying to push it back into the ground, unfortunately the wind won the battle...... until DH wondered why I was gone for so long (only because he was waiting for his lunch ....!) - so armed with some scissors and twine, a rescue bid was deployed.....
Runner bean frame once again upright....!!!

Have a lovely Sunday afternoon, folks, whatever the weather decides to throw at you

                          • Good evening,

Been to the allotment today and then spent most the day browsing looking for wool. Think I have found the right one to make a top. Never knitted a top before.
Going to spend the day on the plot tomorrow and plant my Christmas spuds and weed beds.

                            Have a good evening

Changed its mind - just spent a few very pleasant hours harvesting potatoes, onions, two tomatoes and a courgette - still no rain :-)

Beetroot sowing from 3 weeks ago looking good - I will do this every year from now on
