        • Just finished cutting back and front grass - washing on the line is wafting in a gentle breeze - not uncommon here. As I think I have posted before, this area has its own little micro climate as we are protected by the hills of Arran 20 miles off the coast - not that we don't get our share of wild stormy weather - if you read the local paper in the 1800s sailing ships were frequently wrecked on Lady Isle just off the coast as they tried desperately to make their way into the safe harbour at Troon and heroic rescues by rowing boats manned by Troon seamen were not uncommon.

I do have a picture or 2 of more recent incidents when a yacht was washed up on Troon and a small boat was washed up on Barassie shore but where they are ...........??

              • Morning all - scratch that LOL it's afternoon now! Had a bit of a hangover this morning so wasn't feeling my best. My own fault, as had a day out yesterday viewing my sister's new home and drank more than I should have.

Good news is we picked our first blackberries of the season. Got two big bags full to freeze for fruit pies and crumbles. She is lucky to live near a big load of blackberry bushes and also greengage trees - we ate some although they weren't quite ripe but still yummy.

Funny day, quite cold and very windy. Had to prop the runner beans up and some of the tomatoes which had been bashed by the wind.

                • Hi all, I am back. Sorry not been around, got busy with work and other things and then before I knew it a month has gone by that I have not been on the forum and I have missed you lot. Thought I had to get going again. Missed coming on to tell you about my new mini greenhouse, my first cucumber ever, my first flower on my aubergine and so on, thinking I must tell my friends but things just get in the way. Anyway sorry but I will make more of an effort!!!

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                            • Am I included in that invitation Shen? I'm very cheap The oven wasn't as bad as I had imagined and I'm using the stuff you smear on one day and sponge off the next, so that was fairly easy.#

We've had "proper" chips for tea, done in a "proper" chip pan They were de-licious We've got the back door wide open with a gale force coming through it to get rid of the smell Only have them once or twice a year, but soooo worth it.

Made 3lbs of short crust to freeze for future use and I managed to start on the 5th Volume of GoTs so the day wasn't entirely wasted.
