  • Oh...and Jay...we're set for a few days of heatwave next week...might you catch a bit of it?

I imagine that'll be the end of our summer? ( we're due a 9C on Friday night)

    • Mornin n'all n'all from both me and Hibou.

Sorry sweetie, but it's a bit too early for me to want to eat a mouse for my breakfast

At least I get to hear the 7 am bells from both villages this morning.

Mostly domestics for me today, although I am getting tempted to start doing a bit of pickling or preserving.....

This statement from yesterday was a blatant lie!

It chucked it down all day and the wind gradually got stronger. Had the fire lit all evening.
The fire will be getting lit considerable earlier today. It's not good out there.
But it's ok because it's our local show today, other half has already left to help set up the wood turning stand .

I'm not going near the place

Courgette and tomato chutney and a beetroot and orange chutney.
Morning hibou, I'm sure you can sneak your mouse into the preserving pot when mums not looking

          • Pickled my first batch beetroots yesterday using a microwave rather than boiling for hours, it seem to work OK, is more economical and I didn't have to keep topping up the water. looks like the old large pots I kept for the job can be thrown away.

Work this morning, so it's the calm before the storm lol
Went to the GC yesterday to pick up some Spring bulbs. Not in store yet.
Will have to get them online I think.
Got to pick more carrots and beans for dinner tonight, this self sufficient (veg wise) lark is great isn't it?
Having liver and bacon. Onions and Spuds are in store.
                Have a wonderful day folks.

It's been nice these last couple of mornings but grey today, rain and more rain due. That'l help the weeds grow more.
Have picked a few tomatoberry toms , although not tried one yet as keep passing to mum to cheer her, il get one some point.
Quiet morning then off to hospital , they're fiddling with dads tabs and seems to be zonked most of day and awake all nighthope they sort that out, poor neighbouring patients. They've mentioned him now requiring 24hr care so bit at the mo.

Why hadn't I thought of beetroot in microwave great idea.

Mum made a choc fudge cake for us, I froze half in slices last night....it seems I need to remove some from freezer already I havnt had any yet I might add !

I still have kohl rabi to pick and try, anyone grow these ?

                      Oh yes!...but not this year.
Don't let them get too big or they get woody.
Absolutely delish...slightly nutty flavour...loads of recipes for them.

A wet morning here and the wind gets a bit blustery, went out with the dog and didn't bother with an umbrella as it was just a light smurr, back home soaked, wasn't too bad in the open but once under the trees a wee gust of wind, Dries the leaves but soaks me, I think in future the dog will go herself or my wife can take her, no on second thoughts that may not be a good idea, I'm sure the two of them would plan something against me, ah well will see what the rest of the day brings, oh and when we got back in guess who got all the attention because they were wet, if, if you need a clue they don't walk on two legs. Have a good day Folks enjoy the weather what ever you get, see you later, grandsons need attention

                          • Water up from the well early this morning. Well level dropping but will last the season by the look of things. Let's hope we have a wet autumn and next spring, but no flooding (fingers crossed).

Was awake v. early and had a look for Perseids but didn't spot any before I decided to hop back into bed. Will try again tonight/tomorrow morning. What a good excuse for an afternoon nap!

Hope you all have a jolly day.

                            • Morning all, wet and chilly again and unfortunately Nicos it doesn't look as though we are going to get any of the nice weather that's coming up! I know I keep saying this but it's no wonder we are called dour Scots...
It was cold yesterday and we actually had the heating on...in August!! Giving up on getting any toms this year. I have the sum total of 4 little green Principe Borghese fruits. Lots of flowers mind but no fruit.
Domestics for me today too and as its raining there is'nt much else I can do!! Think I'm going to have to relocate down south for the good weather!
Have a great day all, enjoy the sun those who have it.
