Morning all. Little bit of rain overnight, but probably not enough to make a real difference. I have found the perfect entertainment for a toddler ... forget your soft play and playhouses. Washing the car! And double the fun if you use the hose. Libby loved it on Monday and on Tuesday when I got the hose out to water the very dry garden she got all excited and said "Wash car?". Now she doesn't have a lot of language yet - she can string 2-3 words together so I thought that was quite a breakthrough. Especially since I loathe washing the car - apprentice in training

Morning all, not been around much lately as school hols are not affording me much time to socialise anywhere...lol but looking forward to them going back to school on Monday and I can seriously sort my garden out then and dig over the beds I have now harvested from and then cover them over for next growing season or I may plant some spuds for my Christmas dinner.
Susieq sounds like you had lots of fun watering the garden, as for the car washing that sounds great fun too. I used to enjoy cleaning the car when I was a kid and my mum always wished I would clean my room with the same enthusiasm.

Morning (just!) all
Been for weekly trip to bargain, I mean, garden centre. Bought a pair of long gloves reduced to £4.19 from £15 and those will stop the nasty rash I keep getting when picking squash and pulling out spent leaves. Got some more half price seeds for next year and a new hand fork for £1 which was a silly price.
Bit wet outside, picked some squash before slugs tuck into them. I see they've started nibbling one of the small marrows but no matter as got several more growing away. So I'll give them that one
Pleased to see more tomatoes ripening - getting more than a handful a day would be good.
Enjoy the day everyone.LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Afternoon all
Nearly there...
Lots of harvesting being done and have done lots of pickled chills already and some pickled onion and cucumber mix...
Next up will be some hot chilli sauces and some tomato & chilli relishes, hopefully..I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
...utterly nutterly

Prick the beetroot all around with a sharp knife so they don't explode
Full heat for 3 minutes

Turn the beetroots 180 degrees or over

Well I think it's warmed up a bit here....... Just been out to close GH doors, and all the autovents are still open ~ and I still have the French doors open ......
Maybe that 'heatwave' forecast for the weekend, is on its way..............?
Hope it manages to find its way north of the border for you all ........
It'll save rary a few bob in early heating bills.........!

Thanks rary!
Yup...I'm around.....
I've just spent about 10 mins star gazing through a very light cloud cover
Only able to see the brightest stars, but......
Yey!.....I did manage to see 2 shooting stars
And yep- I did make 2 wishes.
Better than nothing eh?
I'll have another go though either later on tonight, or tomorrow night.
I have an early start tomorrow though.
Good luck to any other star gazers..and ta for the reminder rary"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
