Ajoblanco or ajo blanco (chilled almond soup, though the name literally means white garlic) is very popular in Spain. You'll find lots of recipes on the Web. This article goes on a bit, but it does try out a few variants:

Meanwhile, back on the ranch here, a very hot morning but the tom plants are now showing the effects of the recent cold nights and quite a few are dying back. A shame to see. The Floridity toms are standing out bright red against stiff stems and brown leaves. Still very tasty, mind, though the skins are a little thick. Still a bit more life left in the Sungolds (I hope). Have started to bring in the hanging toms with a lot more to come. They look very nice hanging on strings in what will eventually be the pantry though is still just another room full of boxes of junk.

    Have a nice day, y'all.

Edited to add: Have just been flicking back through the pages and spotted your post, NVG. Hope your show plants are OK. Here allotment owners have nowadays got used to people taking things for food - it's assumed they're among the vast numbers of unemployed folk here - but wanton damage like that is never seen. It beggars belief.

              • Good morning,

Spent most the day at the plot digging some beds covered in weeds over and covering them up. Was going to go today and finish it off but woke up to rain. What happened to the heat wave we was meant to be having?

Think I am going to spend the day knitting and doing some sewing. Need to finish off the cushions that I am making for my front room.

                Have a good day

                • Is that BM sneaking into that Photo Shen? You didn't tell us you were taking part in the show BM!

Morning all, missed you all yesterday so just been catching up! So sorry to hear about your allotment NVG, hope your veg are ok and not too much damage has been caused. Not going to say what I think about people who do these kind of things!
I think I've told you about the little kitty who visits us now and again. Next door are cat people and have started feeding it. Yesterday they had food and a basket out in the front garden...the cat was in the basket when my OH passed. He got me to come and have a look and as I got to the end of the path the neighbours door was closing, no food bowl, no bed and more importantly no cat! We think they are trying to entice it to stay. Trouble is, it is obviously owned by someone, it has a collar and is well groomed...its a very fluffy cat! I just feel so uncomfortable with the whole thing, it could be some old persons cat or some child's cat. I wonder about people sometime...leave well alone which doesn't concern you!
Had a beautiful day here yesterday and put my chilli plants out for some sun...you've guessed, I forgot to bring them in! Fingers crossed they are ok. I think that was the last day of sunny weather so if you don't mind girls, may I join you in the Indian Summer dance?
Anyhoo, best get on, hope you all have a lovely day.
