Morning all - I'm baaaaack!!!
So much to tell you... we finally moved house on thursday - it took us 12 hours to get everything from one house to another 10 minutes down the road. Now, we're shattered, and have soooo much to do, but we're in - and more importantly I can get online! Hurrah
All my plants were safely moved. There were a few dropped tomatoes, potato berries etc but the only incident was that my venus tomato got spliced. Ironically this was the one that had snapped off months ago and has steadily grown back. Clearly those tomatoes were never meant to be.
Will take some pics of the new garden for you all at some point - so far I have discovered a veritable snug and snail army - even in the dry. I'm going to have my work cut out for me here - I have never seen so many in one place and all moving in the same direction. It was a bit creepy actually!!
Speaking of work I am currently sat looking at a GIANT pampas plant (bush?) and an even bigger monkey puzzle tree - and thats just the beginning... its going to take some wrangling to get it into a veg garden!
Hope everyone is well and up to no good as usual. Happy saturday!!

Morning crew at 6 this morning I could see only blue sky and the moon, the wind is picking up but nothing like the Met warnings from 2am and cloud has only just rolled in and the wind is picking up slightly.
I need to find another contractor to take the bath out and put a wet room in the second one appointed has let us down. Anyone recommend a good competed builder near me who can do a first floor wet room?

Morning all. It has been raining but is now a bit brighter. My butts are full - Ooooooh Matron! Out to lunch with a friend in Lichfield and then to IK** to buy Kilner jars. Damson vodka is my project this year. I gave damsons to my neighbour last year and she said "I'm not going to make jam, if I want some jam I'll just come and scrounge some off you." And she made damson vodka - OH MY WORD - it was utterly sublime! So ... this year, s*d the jam. I know what I am making

Susieq, that sounds delicious. Get your neighbour to make the jam this year!
And congrats, Vixylix. All the best for life in your new home. Bet those snails and slugs are all moving in one direction - away - because they've heard you're coming.
Ants are a nuisance here at the moment. I went to lock the chickens in the other night and decided against it: there was a carpet of ants in the compound after their feed. I've never seen so many. The trail they've made going to and fro is positively a dual carriageway. The dogs are loose at night at the moment, so I decided a fox attack was unlikely and the chickens might have needed to escape the ants. I'm going to have to do something about them, but it has to be chicken friendly as they scratch around where the nest is.
Didn't do enough work yesterday so have to catch up today. Hope you all have a better day than me...

Morning all. Well I think the sun is trying to peep out a bit here. Has been raining most of the morning here.
Have been busy so far. Made some potato soup, which isn't that brilliant, and got some bread dough made up ready to go in the oven in a few minutes.
Don't know what else we are going to do as I'm waiting for a phone call from the OH to tell me what time he is finishing today.
Have a good day everyonesigpic

Well, the rain stopped out came the sun,so car got a right treat, son hovered it out,the it got a polish inside and the jams all cleaned, without warning the squall came, boy it was cold, sun out again now,HUGGG,i have been looking at getting a MPV,just so the back is lower for me to lift the chair into, but no joy, they either got no reputation, the seats will not fold flat or out my price range, even looked at them with ramps, but they a bit over the top for what we need,so for now i have removed the back head rest'S,so seats WILL now lay flat, for now tis better the devil i am used to,plus after all these years i have finally braved it backing into the drive way,yep am a total wimp, hence NOT getting a estate, sat in them and now way, sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Wet and gusty here too! Everytime I stick my head out, it rains. head in and the sun comes out. Going to see if I can fool it by sticking my leg out first
Nipped over the shops this morning and followed a Learner driver back. On the back of the Learner car it said "No pupils are left in this vehicle overnight". Made me chuckle
I'm having an afternoon with Joy Larkcom! Bought a couple of her books, 2nd hand of course, "Vegetables for Small Gardens" and "Oriental Vegetables". I like the way she writes - its all words with very few photos to pad it out and make it look pretty.
Stand by your beds, I may be asking some daft questions about growing orientals soon!
Hope you're all staying dry and your garden stuff is staying put

We nipped down the plots earlier on,the bean frames what there are of them are going for it in the wind,as for the rain,it ain't done a lot to the ground, this is better than having a flood of the stuff, plus a drop more water in the barrels, have closed up the grow house a bit,the albenga has had 1 lovely fruit, the little ones forming are going yellow,i recone it's got chilly through the open window,we will see,at least i got 1 ,enjoy your read VC,one would assume the L-Driver car meant the learner, not his eyes.sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Good evenin' all ....
Great news Vix re your move, you can take your time with things and enjoy your new garden now!
Had a lovely lunch out with dear old parents-in-law. It was therapeutic for FIL as he's recovering from a bit of a breakdown, and it was his first time 'out' today .... Wish they would ask for help from us once in a while ~ they just struggle on ......we're only a 40 minute drive away and will gladly help out with driving to docs/hospital appointments etc ~ unyet they won't ask and have been using buses, making it such a long day to get to an appointment and back .....
Hope everyone's riding out this horrible gusty, wind with minimal damage ......~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need
a prescription ... And with no limit on dosage.
