  • Afternoon All. Bucketing it down here too and it's cold, well, I'm cold. Better change from shorts to trousers. Daughter and eldest GG have gone to Turkey today. Middle and youngest GG are coming here for the night, so SIL is alone with Chester for the first time ever - bet he loves it. Your hair looks nice Bren

    • Just noticed I've got my tee shirt on inside out. It will have to stay that way until I put my PJs on later - unlucky to change it now. Good job I haven't got to go out in it I think I must be the most superstitious person I know - got it from my mum.

          • Hollie asked to go out earlier on so I opened the back door for her, she took one look at the weather and changed her mind. First time I've had the door shut during the day when I'm at home for weeks.

I've been getting quotes for getting my garden cleared. Only two people have turned up and only one has given me a quote. I've passed it by my youngest son and he knows the men concerned and doesn't want them doing it. Looks like I'll be doing it myself, though how I get the rubbish off the land and dispose of it I've no idea.

                        • Good evening Folks, managed to clear up some logs from the bushes I had cut down, I am thinking of getting a chain saw to make things easier for me, will give it some thought, once the rain started I carried out some work in the green house, my fire was surrounded with fire brick which took up a fair bit of room, so I now have three foot paving slabs on three sides, which gives my some room, but was moving them without any gloves on, now realise the skin on my hands are not as hard as they used to be, and I cant lift the slabs the way I used to, maybe they have got heavier with all the rain I am sitting here with sore muscles, and I darent let on or I will never here the end of it as she saw me moving them with a barrow, and it was like the inquisition about how I got them on the barrow, I had to say a neighbour gave a hand, hope she dosen`t find out he is away on holiday,it looks like she has recovered now, and yes I am still running after her , but that is normal. Well I will wish you all a good night as I am off for a warm shower, and I have thunk on the saw and decided no (someone wont give me the money). Goodnight
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                          • Well what a rubbish lot of weather here today ~ got a drenching 'sprinting' ((lol!!)) to and from GH ....!!!

Anyway, got set-to in the kitchen to make, what I thought would yield at least two medium-sized kilner jars worth of Tomato & Chilli Jam .....

Dunno what I did wrong, I left it on to simmer for the recommended 30-40 mins - and it had the consistency of - water..!!
So I ramped-up the heat and virtually boiled it until it 'thickened' to a syrupy consistency ... But only got enough for 1 jar ~ hope it will taste good ...!

                            Night all

Uh-oh - I'm no expet, but don't these things thicken as they cool? If I'm right, in the morning, your one pot of jam may be of a concrete-lke consistancy ....

                              • Mornin n'all n'all

Looks like I'm ' first up/ best dressed ' again this morning!
( a phrase my mom always used to say as she was one of 3 sisters and the first one up used to have the first choice of clothes from the wardrobe.)

We had a heavy downpour in the night...first for weeks, and waking up to the smell of damp , warm earth is absolutely lovely!
Bit of sewing and domestics for me today, and hopefully a quick nip to a vide grenier as I'd like to buy a necklace of green beads so I can make some caterpillars !

Hope everyone has a great day
