I'm beginning to think its a dispensation of Providence that you weren't posted off to Africa at some time in the colonial era. If you had been we'd all be reading tales of orphaned elephants and what a charming lion it was that wandered in to your garden the evening before last :-)

Plot 16 P
Plot 16 p from both ends - just so that you can see Spud!
This plot's about 10' x 11' and has a big old apple tree stump taking up one end. There are 2 dwarf Jonagold's and an even dwarfer Braeburn. Also a self seeded tree that I think is a sweet chestnut?
The leeks are my experiments with re-planting last year's bolted leeks. Many of them have grown sideshoots and there are clusters of 2 or 3 leeks coming from the same basal plate. So far so good.
I've sown Field Poppy and Phacelia campanularia and Phacelia tenuifolia (which is green manure phacelia). Hoping to attract lots of luvly bees.Comment

Plot 17 Q
17 Q is oval, roughly 28' x 10' at its widest. Apart from an elder, daffs, montbretia and aquilegia its mostly weeds.
Today has not been a good day for gardening and Q hasn't inspired me. The only Q I can find in my seed box is Quinoa and I'm not convinced about growing this. I thought it could be used as chicken food but it has to be "processed" to get rid of the soapiness before chooks will eat it. I'm not a fan of something that has to be treated to make it palatable so Quinoa may be off the menu/sowing plan. Not sure yet what I'll sow in 17 Q - may become a crazy mixed up wildflower bed.Comment

As a big space, overrun by weeds and saplings it was terrifying and I couldn't decide how to tackle it, where to start, so I'd tinker with it and achieve nothing. Breaking it into small chunks and dealing with one a day is working better for me. The alphabet plan is just a nutty way of sowing some of the old seeds that lurk in my seedbox and avoiding labelling anything.Comment

Plot 18 R
Plot 18R is a little triangle, about 13' on 2 sides and 7' across at the far end.
Last year, it was the P bed and had a lot of parsley - no sign of these now.
Under the ramshackle cage are the perennial brassicas I'm growing from sideshoots. I don't know what they are - or the tall one in the background. The little ones are starting to flower - yellow buds, so its not Daubenton as they had white flowers. They're in the cage out of reach of the chooks! Greedy things.
Not much else here - some day lilies and weeds.
I'm sowing Rudbeckia here and will plant some Rosemary as I have some in pots.
Tomorrow it's the 3 triangular beds behind this one.Comment

Plot 19S (3 mini plots)
Plot 19 S comprises 3 small triangular beds. The long sides of the triangles are 13-15' and the short sides are 7'.
One bed has an apple tree and rosemary; the middle bed has blueberries and sage; and the third has gooseberries and rosemary. There are some flowers but I'm not sure if they've survived the winter yet.
I'm going to sow sunflowers here but I'm not ready to start them yet. Also Safflower, probably.

Just to let you know I have been pottering on with this but I have a new computer and all my photos are on the old one. One day, I'll get round to copying them over.
Meanwhile, I go back to Plot 1 tomorrow and see what has changed. Weeding will be restricted to recognisable weeds until I can identify the seedlings from last month's sowing.
Weather permitting, I'll take another set of photos tomorrow and start the 30 day cycle all over again.
It may bore you all to tears but I find it quite exciting.
