  • Uploading photos on an ipad - size?

    Hi all,

I've read the hints and tips thread and Deano's guide to uploading photos on an iPad but my pics are still really tiny, does anyone else have this problem?

No, what are you doing? All I do is slightly crop photo before uploading. I don't resize them.

When you take photos on an iPad or iPhone they are slightly too large and the system rotates them when uploading as an attachment. If the image has been cropped slightly using the edit functions within the photos on an iPad or iPhone the image is uploaded the correct way.

Mine all come out the right way though
I find you have to have iPad correct way up, sq button to the right/camera pic taking button to the right.

            4. Click "add files"
            5. Click "choose files" on the drop down box.
            6. Chose photo from your camera roll
            7. Click "upload"

In the bottom LH corner your photo wiil appear.
            8. On RH side of this click "done" and your photo will be inserted within your post where you last positioned your cursor.

Hmm, may depend on what versions you are running. If you look at many grapes photos they are occassionally uploaded on their side. If I slightly crop them it doesn't ever happen.

Yer I did wonder why some went wrong way. It's so easy to hold phones etc wrong way. I only found out by accident yrs ago.
                Thanks scarlet.

                  Thanks scarlet.
It's nothing to do with holding the camera in the correct position it is the size of the photo, portrait photos will often upload as landscapes if not cropped..a little tip from Sarico.

                    Ok.
As an example pic , same pic as before holding iPad wrong way.

Could I also add that the Mod's don't have a magic wand that easily flips the photos around.
We have to download them to our computers, edit them with Picture manager, save them to our computers and re-post them.
Then I usually forget to delete them from my computer and find them again weeks later, scratching my head about when I took them

That's exactly what I am doing, however, in Deano's example his pics open up and fill the new browser window but mine are only about 2" square?

Hmm, do you mean they are the same size as containergardeners photos? What version of iOS are you running.

                            iOS 9.3.1

My pics are about 1/2 to 2/3 size of containergardeners photos, all most odd and I can't understand it. It's not as though I'm not IT savvy, as a day job I'm rolling out Office 365 to a company of 50,000 staff!

Agree, I'm also IT savvy and have the problem when posting from my iPad mini. I tried it from an android tablet and had the same issue. I'm fairly certain I was able to post normal sized photos before and I think it is only in the past year (probably less) that mobile users have been having this specific problem with the forum. I believe it is a forum issue.
Posted on an iPad so apologies for any randomly auto-corrected gobbledegook
