The way to get rid of the mask look is to use mineral powder as opposed to cream based foundation.

I discovered this a couple of years ago and have never looked back. A thin layer of primer followed by mineral powder evens uneven skin tone out but it doesn't look overdone. It also feels weightless and lasts at least 16 hours in my experience.

Mascara is my key weapon, I use it to really thicken my lashes but I also use it to define my eyebrows. Over zealous plucking in my youth plus blonde/ginger eyebrows means that they need all the help that they can get!

As an experiment, last year I made up half a face to see what the difference was and it was incredible!

When I do wear it , it's natural colours to suit my normal if you know what I mean, not a red lipped type

I'm wondered which of the fellas here are wondering whether to share their make up routines

I use the powder types too Sara

BM you just crack me up

Make up isn't for me. I am quite girly but never liked make up, dressing up, hair styling etc. All those things I find boring as heck. As VC said, life is too short. My only thing is I like to wear toe nail polish and pride myself on having nice feet That is the one thing I'm a bit vain over.

Luckily I work from home so don't need to dress up or pretend to look smart for anyone. Can please myself.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

I think I have some make up somewhere... Seriously I think if I was to resurrect it I would have to buy new as it's been around that long to be a health hazard.

I wonder if my brother is on this forum, he's a REALLY keen gardener. His garden is superb and he's just applied for planning permission for a mega polytunnel, anyway, I digress.

If he is here then I'm sure that he will be along shortly to recommend the male makeup range that he wears, I kid you not lol

Coverup and clear mascara are always on his person. As are the telephone numbers of his dentist for teeth whitening and his other Botox specialist.......

Yes, he's gay and a very very stereotypical gay (when it comes to appearance) and he doesn't deny it!

I hope that I haven't offended anyone with this post, mods feels free to remove/ delete if necessary.

Makeup primer is amazing stuff, it makes your skin feel as smooth as a new babies bottom!

Never for me, don't even own any.
I do, like Marie, pride myself on my tootsies. Always manicured and painted during the summer

I pretty much ONLY wear make up for work - if I'm mooching at home no chance. then again - for me make up is eyeliner mascara and maybe a bit of blusher if I want to splash out

I have to say I would only really notice if someone was over made up - I've never noticed if anyones not wearing make up!

As I've said I never wear it. But I do like men with eye liner (it's a rock thing)

Increasingly I'm finding my colleagues, even the v senior ones, just aren't doing it.
Think that's one of the things I don't understand, why would a job make any difference? Not taking offence or anything, just genuinely don't understand why that makes a difference. Obviously some jobs require smarter clothes or a uniform but do people see make up as a smart thing? I've always seen it as a more fun thing so more likely to be relevant for social occaisions than say a professional environment. Re the comment about people wearing less, of the people I know / see it's mainly kids and the twenty somethings that seem to be dependent . Very few of my middle aged friends have ever been that interested.

Oh and I'd never heard of primer in a makeup scenario either.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
