I do love that half of the year though. The slow ripening of fruits and the excitement of the Harvest as the fields turn golden. Then there's all the shows, festivals, pumpkins, warm evenings watching the bats flying around, cooler nights and storms. Totally love it.

So now I'm putting down iPad, finishing lunch and heading back outside, planting, planting and more planting.

I love light evenings, but love the dark evenings too. Although here on the west coast of Ireland the nights seem to get ever brighter for quite some time after the solstice, I'm not sure why that is though.

I'm putting my calendar forward a month this year. the summer solstice is the 21st July. That should give me time to put some plants in.
