Instead of people tryng to find a way around the problem wouldn't it be more use if a picture simply was rendered in the same orientation as it was on the persons PC or tablet.
The majority of photo's are at 90 degrees to how people usually have them. So is it not a problem at the forum server end, on other forums the uploaded images simply are displayed as at the originators PC and that is usually upright as expected.
Seems people are trying to get around the problem when it should be fix the problem. I have given up trying to make sense of many images posted when a question is asked. Simply cannot make out from a sideways image what the detail is from the helpfully posted image.

Its not just this Forum, Kirk, there's lots on the Internet about problems uploading photos
Here's Why Your iPhone Photos Sometimes Appear Upside Down | Business Insider
Scarlet is trying to help people find a way round the problem. I'm just an old fashioned girl with a digi camera and a laptop - so haven't a clue whats going on. However, I'm happy to try to help people with a question, even if their photo is the wrong way round!

I think it's @pples" way of keeping you locked into buying their kit.
Containergardener says if you hold the tablet or phone with the shutter positioned at the bottom when taking landscapes they will load in correctly. For portrait photos this is a little tricky as no one wants to hold the phone/tablet upside down when taking photos. Slicing off a few mms of the photo is quick and easy by using the edit/crop function on your mobile device.
