I get it a couple of times a year in the toes - hurts like beggery - the medical treatment has quite a few side-effects (that's cheery news I know). I found drinking cherry juice seemed to help - might have been placebo effect. Anyhow, hope you're feeling better soon.

Oh no...that is so frustrating jonny
One of the reasons I'm happy to live here....

Have to say that I think the NHS in parts beats the rest of Europe/ La Monde hands down...but parts do begger belief.

Hope your specific problems are sorted quickly.

And nope...sorry- we can't allow medical advice on here. ( maybe nip into your A&E at a quiet time for advice???/ phone a medical contact number...????)

JP you sound really cheesed off - I know that gout can be horrendous.

Is there nothing you can do to ease your pain untill you see the quack?

I understand that your garden may suffer because of your health but at least, in a few months time there will be a reason for not being able to work your space.

Your post made it sound like you were not coming back - I personally would miss your posts with their questions, advice and humour.

There are many people on here who understand only too well that ill health can cause the spirit to wilt, me amongst them and my OH for definate, so please just keep talking to us all so you can let us know how things are going as we all want whats best for you (sorry I'm being a bit presumptive here but I do believe it).

My brother thought he'd broken his toe a couple of weeks ago and, because he was visiting my Mum in hospital, I suggested he go to A&E for an Xray. They told him it was gout - so I sympathise as I know how much pain he was experiencing.
          Hope it improves soon.

              yup...you can't go!

Goodness knows if you can't get out in the garden we are the very next best thing!

I don't know anything about gout except that it really, REALLY hurts and I do know about pain.
Speaking as someone who has lived for years on morphine patches 24/7 I can promise you that pain is affected by state of mind (not IN your mind...but BY your mind).
You need to 'disorganise' your pain signals...doesn't make it go away, but can stop it from overwhelming you.

Nothing will disorganise your mind as well as veggie chickens thought processes, distract you as much as BMs 'hexperiments' and support you as much as the rest of will...so stay. Read. Giggle and roll your eyes with us.

(and make friends with your Drs receptionist....she can get you a cancellation if you make her want to )

I think you're all bonkers thinking Jonny is throwing himself on the compost heap
He lurves it here too much - and we lurve having him here.

Nicos, you'd better drop the "vin" off with me as it may not be the best medicine for someone in Jonny's condition - but I'm happy to help you dispose of it!

Oh, and while I'm here, I need a word with muddled about my "disorganised thought processes" or summat. Can't remember the words exactly as my mind's too disorganised

JP are you on your own?

Sorry about the personal question but if you are it can have an affect on anybody who is in constant pain.

Remember ONE thing - you will always get a response on here because on here people actually care about each others virtual friends.

Ouch ouch ouch Jonny, that sounds really painful. Do you have an NHS walk in centre near you? If you do then can you get a friend to get you down there?

They are great facilities, I used my local one a few years ago when I had hepatitis (my GP had diagnosed scabies....)

Also, I echo the others, please don't leave here, it's a fabulous little community

Ohh I feel for you mate, my hubby and bf gets it.
The hubby gets it in his toe and he says the pain is out of this world, but after trying all these tablets and all the advice on internet he swears by a pint of lemon water on a mornin, he has also cut right back his sugar intake as that makes it worse.

Appointments with docs, dentists etc are becoming beyond a joke.
