The hubby gets it in his toe and he says the pain is out of this world, but after trying all these tablets and all the advice on internet he swears by a pint of lemon water on a mornin, he has also cut right back his sugar intake as that makes it worse.

Appointments with docs, dentists etc are becoming beyond a joke.
    Hubby and bf....

That's tough - friend gets it in his knee & it's not just the incredible pain but the swelling too, which makes it impossible to wear trousers.

Hope you can find a way to manage the pain, I do really feel for you.

Me too. What does it mean?

If you can manage it Jonny, get thesen down to the LGI............3 weeks is far too long to wait for an appt. If you can't make it down there, ring you GP back & request a home visit saying that you can't make it to the surgery.

I've just had a look at gout on the Web. Sounds awful. But it also sounds like some over-the-counter medication might help. First port of call here in such cases is the chemist. Maybe your local pharmacist will be able to recommend something you can buy without a prescription.

Either way, hope you get some relief soon. Good luck.

OK I'm not doing well with this thread. What's a LGI?

LGI = Leeds General Infirmary (I think!)

Ah, didn't realise it was a specific place, was thinking Local Gout something or Local General something. Don't know the names of specific hospitals
