A bungalow in the middle of a large plot of land in the countryside so I can have my own 2 x allotment size plots, a covered swimming pool so that we can both exercise, quadbikes and a lawn large enough to require a sit on lawn mower and the grass would be used to make compost. A large garage & workshop so that I can tinker and make things during the whole year.

Is that walking to or walking from as the walking distance may be different coming back?

7 bedrooms = lots of cleaning to me!

Reading some if the posts is interesting, the remote middle of nowhere would be lovely for a while but would be infuriating when I needed to buy something or access to many facilities. Also as I got older it would become more difficult if I needed support - a friend of mine's parents retired to a very rural area (read remote) and now, ten years on are finding it very difficult and looking to move back to semi civilisation. Not a massive problem as they'll move but I hate uprooting! I like countryside but prefer easy access to the more uncivilised bits . Couldn't live in a city though, would find it very claustobic.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

              I want what he wants.

I'd also like a place in the sun so I can spend some winter months there.

So we'd maybe settle for 11

This, but without the swimming pool and with the addition of a decent broadband connection!

I would buy a cottage in Norfolk a little 4 bedroom place in case we had visitors, if they could track us down that is. Somewhere in the countryside but not to far because of the kids and school.
It would have an orchard or enough land to start off orchards. I wouldn't want modern variety trees in there but old fashioned varieties that produce fruit that taste of something. I would have apple orchards, cherry orchards and pear orchards.
I would also like to have a walled garden, remember seeing that Victorian Kitchen Garden years ago as a child and thought it was fantastic. I would want to be able to save my seeds and not have to buy them all the time.
On my list as well would be of course my bee hives, chickens and enough room for some dogs. Always said a border terrier or retired grey hound. But the other day I saw an Irish Wolfhound and thought wow I haven't seen one of those for years and I'd forgotten how stunning they were.
Will my garden and pets I would like to win enough to be self sufficient and try to be as organic as possible. Starting to sound a bit like John Seymour here.
Looking back on my wish list think I need to win a lot of money.

Why a bungalow? Can't imagine living on one floor unless I had mobility issues and if I'd won the lottery I could afford a lift

Bungalows are great! No-one in rooms above you, no stairs to carpet or hoover. After living in one for the past year, I'm a convert.

If I had a choice, I'd never have stairs again.
