  • Back in the game ....

Not been around much for the last couple of years .... but I'm back now .... gonna try and stick around this time ....

It's been a tough couple of years .... split with partner, struggled with motivation at times, after all, who's going to cook and eat everything I grow?

Struggled finding work .... kept getting laid off last year because EU workers are so much cheaper .... but now have a new job, something totally different .... earning half what I was earning, working longer hours, but at least I have a job, not like many friends who have been put out of work recently ....

Not grown veggies at home this year .... spent months applying for hundreds and hundreds of jobs .... just about kept the allotment going ....

And now things are settling down .... and I'm trying to spend more time outdoors .... picked loads of broad beans this morning in the pouring rain .... sat in the shed on the plot with a cup of tea while the rain came down .... life ain't so bad after all .....

Lots of us "old" folk still here but they're probably out gardening in the sunshine - or lurking from the rain, like me
You'll soon knock your plot back into shape - I have confidence in you

Hello and welcome back Farmer G. Sorry to hear that you've had a rough couple of years. Great news that things are now getting back on track.

I really do believe that growing own is fabulous for mental health, I certainly feel far better now I've got into it, this is my first year.

Nice to meet you Farmer G. Glad to hear you're sorting things out in your life. Sometimes it deals you bad hand after bad hand and it feels like there's no getting back .... you're proof of the pudding tho'. Can't think of anything more therapeutic than tackling your plot and seeing those first seedlings springing into life.
And if you can't eat it all yourself, see if fellow growers will take it, friends, new work colleagues - you'd be surprised.
                            Best wishes!
