We just got a phonecall!
My youngest daughter has won a Jack Petchey Award!
Jack Petchey is a 90 year old man, born in the Eastend of London who was repeatedly told he wasn't good enough and would never be a success.
Well now he is a multi-millionaire and a philanthropist who has so far given over 100 MILLION pounds in awards to young people.
My girl was nominated by her school.
I don't know yet what for exactly but the awards generally are given for 'an attitude that raises the morale and aspirations of the young people around them'
We will find out the details of her achievement at the award ceremony in a couple of weeks.
The award is a framed certificate, a medal, membership to the Jack Petchey Winners club and a grant of £250 to be spent on a treat for her and her schoolfriends.
Oh Blimie....I'm welling up!
She can be a bit of a villain, my girl but she is never cruel or spiteful. She is unfailingly (and sometimes brutally) honest and she always sticks up for the ones who need it (not always in the best way, to be fair...she's tiny but fierce)
So, so so proud of her!
