I quite fancied joining the WI but the lady said "Its not all jam and Jerusalem now Dear, we don't expect you to bake and bottle fruit these days! HaHa!"
So I didn't join beacause jam and Jerusalem was actually exactly what I was looking for
Should I be embarrassed to admit I've never heard of it!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
I hadn't either! Having goggled it I'm still not sure what the NWR does and there isn't a branch near me, so I'll probably never find out - unless Dotty tells us more
There are no similarities at all, apart from the fact we are all female. I'll put a little comment up, when I've recovered!
Looks like none of us except you do know what it's all about and as the website doesn't really say then unless you tell us we will always be none the wiser. Kirk has a point, it does sound like a list

I would like to join the NWR but the local meetings are held in a venue that I won't go in. I've decided to join the WI. I used to work for them and they are trying to encourage a younger generation of women. Many towns and villages now have 2 WI's, the "old school" and the new versions which are generally given another name. E.g. "Cornish Cupcakes". That's not, as far as I know, a real one but you get the idea.
The opinion of the Federation was that many of the old school's ideas were stuck in the past and younger members weren't encouraged. I was asked to start a new one in my area but I didn't do anything about it, someone else did it instead. I asked if I could join and am going to my 1st meeting next month.
And it's no longer all Jam and Jerusalem. Google Denman College and look at their courses. Although it belongs to the WI it's open to all including men. WI members get a discount.

So what is the NWR, I'm really curious now. Know about WI but Dorothy is insistent that they're different so haven't got a clue.
