  • Has anyone ever actually spotted a Swordfish...?

No, not the thing in the sea; the three-column beast in an evil, beastly Sudoku!

I can just about understand an 'X wing', but the one above....

    ....er - noooo...!

    Any tips anyone?

Sudoku is a closed book to me I'm afraid. I've got an engineering degree, a computer science masters and an MBA and it's just gobbledygook to me, yet my OH has no further education and can do them in no time
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
    Pumpkin pi.

I play Sudoku but had to google to find out about Swordfish and X wing, me i just do the puzzles starting by finding either all the ones or all nines depending how i feel. Didn't know there were other ways to go about it. might have to read up

Never heard those terms but looks like I do some of it without realising it (just Googled). Do puzzles sometimes to calm me down and stop me worrying / stressing.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I do sudoku and find them very relaxing (which is a bit odd because I have very bad dyscaluliar) However, I just gurgled sudoku swordfish and that does NOT look relaxing....

            Not relaxing AT ALL

I hope this link works: -

              https://www.sudokuoftheday.com/techniques/x-wings/

We started a few years ago now, and Mrs Growser buys a book of all levels, and does the lot, one by one as a relaxer!

I like the idea of doing them without marking the candidates for each square, and it becomes a challenge, as well as a brain exercise - which I need at my tender age..;0)

However, an 'X wing' and a 'Swordfish' seem impossible without writing the possible numbers in, but I've seen people actually do it, so I suppose, like getting to Carnegie Hall, 'I'd better practice'!
