I listen to Classic FM on the way to work as it helps me wake up slowly, some I have pumping Trance music on the way home when I'm at my happiest. Although that changes from anything from Andrea Bocelli to Jungle

I love Nirvana and Foo Fighters.
However, today I am mostly listening to Benny Goodman. On vinyl.
2 new albums, which have me grinning from ear to ear are: Benny Rides Again and a very crackly recording of the Rhythm Makers Orchestra from June 1935.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

Over the last couple of years I seem to be listening to less music. When driving to work and back, it's usually R4 that keeps me company.
When pottering in the plastic paradise of the polytunnel though, I do like to have something tuneful. This weeks selections are Romeo & Juliet by the great Sergei Prokofiev and Never Forever by the equally great Kate Bush.
I've also been listening to my own bands largely forgotten masterpiece The Machine, which is now over 30 years old and still manages to scare the horses! What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
Pumpkin pi.

I admit to skipping over some tracks 'cos I just wanted to listen to the main ones I bought the recording for but, then in the mood or whatever when I listened to them all, I've found some real gems. I name Gerry Rafferty, Leo Sayer and especially Tony Bennett's rendering of "Lazy Afternoon" but there are more that just get my heart going when I discover them.I work very hard so please don't expect me to think as well!

It's the skipping of tracks that makes me compile my Best of series, I have all the mavericks albums but have compiled the best of, saying that there isn't very many tracks of theirs I don't like.
Long car journey so Jeff Waynes Musical Version of Spartacus - Funny that Catherine Zeta Jones ended up marrying Kirt Douglas son. And Spartacus with a Cornish accent is just fantastic. if you have not heard it all the tracks can be found here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuZu...3810F797744FEA
It is a 1992 concept album produced and composed by Jeff Wayne with Lyrics by Gary Osborne, telling the story of Roman gladiator, Spartacus.
It starred Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones (in her first recording role), Fish, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and others. It was also the first Jeff Wayne release that is not related to his musical adaptation of The War of the Worlds. Based on a story outline by Jeff Wayne, the script was written by writer Brian Sibley and playwright John Spurling with Sibley responsible for the script of 'Animal & Man', 'The Eagle & the Hawk' and 'The Appian Way' and Spurling largely responsible for the script of 'The Parting of the Ways' and 'The Last Battle'. Also starring in the album is Chris Thompson and Jo Partridge
I also have an extended disco mix of certain tracks released for promotion only
