I've planned everything to within an inch of its life.......... Twice!

I'm about to scrap the lot and start again

Polytunnles are sorted, planing anyway........ still need to juggle the actual tunnels

Really struggling with the raised beds plan.

Like SP I was all ready to rock for next year but...............OH decided that he longer liked the lay out of the garden where my teeny raised beds and planters go as has spent a few days ripping it all up to start it all again.

On the good side - the hogitat is in place, stuffed with hay and covered with btanches and leaves.

Back to the drawing board.

Things still left plus a bit extra

Microgreens on the windowsill, pots of roots in gh. - well half achieved.
Master brassicas.
Carosello - last chance - not even that, it seems I have run out of seed.
Get some companion plants/ pollinators in gh2 for the melon plants. - they don't want to germinate, must sort that soon.
I will only grow 30-40 tom plants with cherry types and long ones (black icicle, banana legs and buffalo horn) outside, salad and beefsteaks indoors. - I think I have failed
The melon gh will have toms back in.
Try and grow less winter squash - also grow smaller types
Master cue growing.
Possibly plant out and create Belgian lattice fence - will be next year

Find space for more cut flowers and flowers for drying - well I found space I am now planning to dig up the pig paddock

Now have lavender edging planned for near the buddleia hedge.
Oiking out honey berries and josta berries to plant persimmon and espalier mulberry.

Also I have a confession. I have already started planning for next year . What is wrong with me? No, don't answer that.

For 2018 (starting 2017)

Start cuttings of red and white currants to start a new bed (at the bottom where flowers are) that I can net.
Same again with jostaberry and blackcurrant in the bed in front (sweetcorn bed this year)
Dig up damson and grow in pot, replace with court pendu plat apple
Bulk up gooseberry patch.

The final plan this is what is happening!

I'm bouncing a few ideas around.
Sprouts and parsnips depends how they do this year. They are on there last chance.
I might be evicting all tomatoes into the smaller cooler tunnel ( the ones in there this year are looking a lot healthier, but need to see if they ripen in there)
More chilli's
Possibly trying a bit of hydroponics (with chilli's)
Nothing is decided yet.

Sprouts in, parsnips out.
Tomatoes are staying in tunnel 1
More chilli's.....yes.
Closest thing to hydroponics is my chilli grow.

A few more decisions have been made about next years growing.
Out ( along with parsnips)
Cauliflower
Sweet peppers (apart from lamuyo)

Reducing
Less varieties of courgette
Less beetroot
Less varieties of tomato
Only 1 plant of each variety of chilli.

Grow something I've not tried growing before, don't know what that will be yet.

It looks like sprouts are off the out list. They are doing very well this year.

Sweet peppers have gone up to 2 varieties.
Not only 1 of each variety of chilli

My plans for next year are still on going. Just to add to what I've already posted.
There will be no strawberries next year they got removed this morning.
There will only be half a bed of potatoes and only varieties you can't easily get in the shops ( bl@@dy slugs )

Around this time of year, I start planning for the following season depending on successes & failures. So next year so far my plans are:

1) To have a dedicated Peach House.
2) Replace all Raspberries with Joan J...............The tastiest Rasp IMO.
3) Replace Runner Beans with Climbing French Beans & Mangetout Bijou.............Better climbers IMO.
4) Grow more Leeks & Onions..............Just love 'em.
5) Grow less Root Veg except Parsnips............Not that keen on them.
6) Try to have a proper go at growing Carrots ( My Nemesis).............Just so I can say I did it.
7) Not growing Brassicas..........Too much work involved for such a cheap veg.
8) No Spuds..............Due to Slugs & Moles.
9) Maybe pass on Broad Beans............... due to black-fly.
10) All Strawberries to be grown in pots on shelving undercover..........................Keep beasties off them.

I'm sure there is more but can't think at the mo.

Have you got any plans in mind?

1) All in place & fruiting nicely.
2) More or less done, just a few stragglers to dig up.
3) CFB's & Mangetout sown & coming along.
4) Leeks & Onions in their beds.
5) Hmmmmmm........Sown Parsnips but slow germinating, also gonna give Swede another bash.
6) 4 MFB's of Carrots doing nicely.
7) Only growing Sprouts as I want to give this pruning malarkey a go.
8) Well that dint quite work out, about 50 spuds planted in various cages & beds.
9) A dozen plants in flower, will come out when Courgettes are ready to go in.
10) All strawberries protected either under cover, on shelves or under netting.

Almost forgot, my first year at growing Asparagus so looking forward to next year for the first taste.

Gonna have a bash at growing Milkweed, who knows, a Monarch may just be passing by in need of nourishment..............

Can't get them to germinate..............must have another bash.

^^^I can't remember which milkweed you said now, but I am struggling to germinate swamp milkweed (Asclepias Incarnata). Asclepias syriaca - Common Milkweed, Asclepias curassavica - Scarlet Milkweed, Asclepias speciosa - Showy Milkweed have all germinated. (only a few compared to the number of seeds sown)

Well done SP - I've not even dug the beds yet, never mind sorted what's going in them. Now you've mentioned it though, I havent missed this bit of the planning at all!

Grow something I've not tried growing before, don't know what that will be yet.

What was the winner? micro veg? pea bean? kalettes?
