I belong to my local Streetlife - which wouldn't be the same as yours.
I don't often post anything on it but its useful to keep up with what's happening locally.

I check it out sometimes, it can be useful for finding out what is going on locally. Am guessing if varies from area to area. Do you use it then Potty?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Joining is easy. I have an email a day. Its if you want to participate that takes the time!
On my local one, they discuss local politics, what's on, things to give away and ask for suggestions for tradesmen, dentists, restaurants etc.
Its easy to opt out too.

I joined it for about a month,I don't think it's very nice, some of the people on there are odd/disrespectful & there's no mods or pointy sticks! I had a bit of an arguement with someone on there, well,i was giving my view about something, everyone was saying their view about streetlights & someone argued with my viewpoint,in life not everyone agrees on everything but some people don't accept that & they try & argue with you until you back down & agree with them,I never back down if I'm right, how can you even have an opinion that's wrong,it's what you think? Everyones allowed their opinion but they wouldnt have it,even though there was a few other people that agreed with what i was saying. Plus crime statistics have now proved everything i was saying anyway,it was obvious what would happen. This person (probably working for the council getting a payrise because theres money in the pot now the lights are out) made me think,i dont want to hang around in here. Your streetlife people might be more intelligent though, this is just my local town people (& surrounding villages) Its ok to pop in & see what's going on but a lot of people seemed to pop in & never come back again to reply to people. On the bright side it's easy for people to advertise their trades & good if you're looking for a group to join like mother & baby etc. Be wary of the unsavoury characters though,I suppose it's troll behaviour?

I joined sometime ago but haven't had an e-mail for ages. I had forgotten about it actually. Really wasn't used by people in my area. The idea is good

We all got fliers through our letter boxes about it, I think it was when it first started. Current local conversations are as follows:

                        Reviews of a community cafe
Enquiry if anybody wants to meet up for an evening walk
Asking for advise on various skilled handymen
                        Lost cat call out
Discussion about a local litter pick up
                        Advert for a Sunday market
                        Discussions about a fun day
                        Etc etc

Quite varied really. There are somewhat political discussions at times (often around waste disposal) but mainly it's more like a community notice board. It's very useful to you need trade recommendations (although some people push themselves a bit) and I've found out about various local events is have missed out on otherwise.

I joined a couple of years ago and find it very useful - sometimes
The people are all very nice on our one, they also list product recalls as well, which is quite funny as the items are so obscure

I'd not heard of it, either .....

Where I live we have a monthly Parish Newsletter, mainly church led, but includes other information pertinent to five neighbouring villages.... Lots of adverts for local tradespeople, which is a good thing, and also coffee mornings, fetes, film club, walks etc.
It's not at all political ..... and has nothing to do with the local council ....

And for our village, we have regular emails sent out with forthcoming events at the village hall. Also one guy organised an oil syndicate for those that want any, so we get it at a slightly reduced rate ...

So guess it's our 'local' Streetlife, really .....

Ive never heard of street life either. We have a local village and surrounding areas group on F@cebook. We have local flood wardens (inc my OH) that will report blocked drains etc...peeps let everyone know via the FB page, we have a neighbourhood plan group, join forces on planning application etc. peeps use it for advertising - school fetes, piano lessons, etc. it's also used as a local "freecycle" wood chippings, logs, unwanted CDs, furniture. It works really well for us.
