Looks like BM may have stumbled into the discovery of a perpetual motion device with that there hornery tumbler.

I was up early this morning working on a variation to the MK5 as the node was not quite strong enough when trying to force the blades into the correct orientation, in addition all that welding of the plastic node compromised the thread and I had spent too much time filing the welding blob out of the way.

So a prototype is 50% constructed - Yep only two pop bottles for blades at the moment so its a modified Mk3 but in a few drinks time I will have enough materials to upgrade it to a modified MK 5 and there is no soldering iron involvement at the moment, and no welded node - that's four blades and no welding!

Re the Slug Slinging Trebuchet - its there in the back of my mind and I have started to research, so the challenge is for someone to build a Slug Slinging Trebuchet with perhaps a pop bottle full of sand for the weight? if enough vines build them perhaps we could have a virtual slug slinging competition or is that a nutty idea?

Here are two of the research videos I found, I love the Myth Busters they are bonkers - there are so many Trebuchet videos on YouTube knock yourself out for and hour or two guys'n'girls

Note that in the second video the windmills in the background are not moving ;(

Slug Protection League !!!! My bootstrap and video logo says it all

                      Starts singing

If I had a hammer I'd sluggy in the morning
                      I'd sluggy in the evening
                      all over this allotment

I bet that green one is the one that's had six of my sweetcorn away

Please note that no actual slugs were hurt in the making of my bootstrap logo

I wondered why it kept rocking backwards before I noticed one of the blades was the wrong way around, all fixed at the end of the video when it's spinning in a light wind.

                          FANTASTIC BM! You made that?
I love it...I need more whirligigs in my life!
                          (and trebuchets )

I do so love clever things that demonstrate pure genius for no useable purpose.

Sort of 'Monty Python meets Archimedes'....pure joy!

Congratulations, Cadalot! Maybe you could give it an added-whirligig factor for Muddled by having streamers or tinsel or the like attached to the ends of the blades.
