Apart from regular water breaks and a stop for dinner, I spent all day in that garage yesterday. I came in at 9.15pm!
I can't move today, I don't have a bit of me that doesn't ache. #woeisme
I was actually embarrassed to see the contents emptied out into the garden/driveway. It looked like a large scale rumage sale. I just have so much 'stuff'.
I was ruthless and got rid of a lot of personal bits as well as diy bits such as the offcut wood that I saved for making small 'things' (I had no idea what the 'things' were going to be). I think it's probably best that I don't have a large garden, I'd only have several sheds to keep stuff like this in.
I'm swaying over a large box of computer bits, speakers, cables, old cd/dvd drives that I removed from previous pc's. It all seems a waste to chuck but I did put it on Freecycle at one point and got no takers so I expect I'll just need to shut my eyes and dump it.
Anyway, I'm happy I've made a good dent in it all at least, cull no.1 is over. I think I will need a cull no. 2 and possibly 3 but for now I am slightly less of a hoarder than I was yesterday.
I had a massive senior moment yesterday though. I thought it was Wednesday so I loaded the car up late last night to go to the dump today (it's only open on certain days). Then I realised it was actually Tuesday and the dump was closed today. I had to unload the car and shove it all back into the garage.

I quite often think people won't take some stuff on freecycle as they see it has having little value. Stick it on ebay with a £1 start price and let someone pay you £1 (or more if a bidding war ensues) to take your item of rubbish away! I did that with a large double glazed uPvc window. It would have been a pain in the backside to move it (i couldn't have lifted it on my own) to the tip and someone came and took it away and paid me a pound for the privilege!!!
It's mildly concerning reading about people "chucking stuff", "throwing stuff away", etc, etc.
There used to be a great sign above the general waste section of the tip in Bath that said something along the lines of; Remember - there is no "away". (ie-when you throw something "away" you aren't actually making it disappear, you are consigning it to landfill or some other equally unpleasant means of disposal.)Last edited by Stan79; 20-07-2016, 10:29 AM.

Ugh. It's a constant battle.
To me, clutter is something that's left out and doesn't have a place, or stuff that just accumulates and isn't needed. Memorabilia and fondly remembered things aren't clutter if they have an organised space to be in....
Our bedroom is the dumping ground for clutter. We've got guests coming at the end of the month, so it's got to be sorted.
Some places I have a high level of tolerance for clutter - the stairs in neat piles (we have wide stairs), our bedroom, the living room - and other places I cannot STAND it - the dining room table, the kitchen, the bathroom.
The kids are drowning in toys and hardly play with any. It's one of the little-mentioned problems with adopting - they come with so much and you really don't like to get rid of it, because you're not sure if it was a treasured gift from a loving foster-family or birth-family member, or if it was something they adored when they were a baby and ought to be in the keepsake box.... I find it very hard and emotional to thin down their toys. :/
Major de-clutter needed!

I don't have clutter, it is all stuff that can be used, somewhere sometime, its just not stored tidely, my OH can't abide things being untidy (especialy me, when I feel comfortable to her I look untidy) she is not allowed into the garage, the hut, the chest of drawers in the conservatory, the bedroom or the porch, the greenhouse oh and the other hut at the back of the garden, and while putting this down I remembered I am supposed to tidy up at the back garden and the patio. Sit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

I also see a lot of perfectly good items in the skips, I'm sure people could use them if the opportunity was there.

Food packaging that can't be recycled and odd bits of building materials go in the bin, only things that go to the tip is building waste from DIY projects really. Oh,and nappies... nappies go in the bin!
