Timing of Un-read switch on Forum.

This may just be me, in which case I'm sure someone can advise.

But here I am at 23:50 settled down to read what's been posted since my last visit.
Find a thread I'm interested in, read it, decide to post a reply, compose reply, post it and return to the forum at 00:10.

Bang, everything is now marked "Forum Contains No New Posts", bar the postings by two other insomniacs. By everything I mean all sub-fora, all postings.

Does the forum re-mark everything at midnight?
I thought it used cookies.

This has happened to me but at other times of the day. I am not sure why it does it but I can ask for you. I tend to always hit the back button after posting and this takes me to all the posts highlighted in bold that my first search brought up.
