  • Goodbye dear Clio?

Driving home last night, to get into the village where I live I had to drive through a river which had burst its banks. I thought twice about it, but didn't really have a choice - there was a huge line of traffic behind me and nowhere to pull in, so gave it a go. There were cheers and photos taken as cars were getting to the other side, and my little Renault Clio made it as well, despite the water surely being above the wheel arches. It was so scary my legs were shaking when I finally got home. Don't think I would make a good off road driver.

We made it nearly to the front door of home, when there was a cough and splutter, lots of white smoke and now I fear it may be the end for Clio, who is rather elderly and was living on borrowed time anyway. Apparently diesels don't like getting their inner workings wet.... I'm just grateful it didn't happen in the middle of the flood.

Any other grapes had similar experiences?

Hope Clio will be allright MuckDiva, but at least you are OK. I feel so sorry for all the people who have been battered by the torrential rains.
