Not made any irrigation for outside beds but I have a diy job in my greenhouse which I described here
    http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ml#post1452706

As I'm on an allotment site any irrigation system has to run on a water butt as I can't leave it connected to a tap all the time.

I'll be doing another slightly different irrigation systems when I build my poly tunnel. Instead of the 4mm hose I'll be using regular 13mm hose pipe lain around the tunnel and fixed to the verticals. From this I'll have T connectors bringing off a spur of hose with a valve and then a length of leaky pipe/soaker hose.

The beds will be 8x4 and I'll have 4 lengths of 4 foot soaker hose spaced at 2 foot apart in each bed. As each length will have it's own valve I should hopefully be able to adjust the amount of water each bed gets and even to adjust the different ends of the beds.

I'm changing the timer. The Darlac works OK but there's no indication if the battery's working and there's no way to put it onto a manual setting to turn on the water now (e.g. when checking that the water is flowing or adjusting the time, flow etc). If you want it to come on once a day at 5:30 am you have to set it at 5:30 am. I've got one of these but I've still got to give it a decent test.

I'm also putting in a filter between the water butts and the timer as the filter on the micro irrigation system I'm using is small and often gets clogged, stopping the system from working.

On our allotments we are only allowed to use collected rainwater, so I've rigged up a gravity fed system like this

from a couple of blue barrels.
