  • We had 4 schoolkids on site yesterday harvesting potatoes and carrots and planting overwinter onions - received an email from the teacher saying they had a great time and enjoyed the produce they took home - she also sent some lovely pics - this practice which takes place fairly regularly helps make us compliant with our responsibilities as a charity. This type of activity is particularly beneficial to these children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

    Nutter by Nature

    Comment

    • Good to hear Shen - not all children have the opportunity to connect with the natural world at home, so really good when they get given the chance by peeps like you & your allotment. My children's school is lucky to have the space for a small garden per class, & an outside classroom as well as a huge playing field but many schools don't.

Any hoo - plumbers have been & gone, & house is full of controllable warmth the old garage is now strangely warm - great, but where do I store my squashes now ?
      Another happy Nutter...

      • Evening All!
I've had one of those silly supermarket days again
I had a liddl pop into liddl today. Pushing my trolley along, smiling at everyone I pass as usual, when a man said "What a lovely smile and a pretty girl too". I gave him another smile, the one that says "Are you nuts" and trollied on. At my age, you don't expect to be called a pretty girl, maybe I blushed, who'd know as my nose is so red and drippy at the moment that I could be Rudolph's stand-in at the panto.
Anyway, our trollies passed as we went to our seperate aisles - but what did I hear from the next aisle over..............."What a lovely smile and a pretty girl too"! She handled it better than I did though - saying "How nice of you to think so"! He wasn't exactly god's gift either
To recover, I had a little rummage through the thermals. Next thing, there's a man trundling my trolley away, in mistake for his wife's (trolley, not thermals). Its a bit unseemly to shout, Ay you, that's my trolley so I had to block his path at the next intersection.
I won't bore with the saga of the Merlot at checkout - but I should have bought the other one according to just about everyone in the queue.

Trust you're all asleep now, Nos da

VC one of the gifts of getting older is that practically every lady you meet can be classed as a girl--def. female child, young woman, so you qualify in my,sorry, may qualify in his case

Trip- How much cycling do you manage each week?
I used to love cycling when I was a teenager-I went everywhere on my trusty red Raleigh.
I was so proud of it- I was the first in my group of friends to get 3 gears!
( yeh...I know...things gave changed considerably since-bit like suncream factors eh?)

                        • Morning all, frosty out this morning. Be going out shortly to scrape the icicle which is impersonating my lady love's motor. At least I don't have to do my own at the moment but having said that, two minutes running and it clears.

Was so bored yesterday I actually cleaned the bathroom, pot n all. yeuch. Wellsomebody has to do it I spose.

Going into my garage this morning. I'll be wiring up by superduper t5 growlamp to a timeswitch and making blackout screens for the windows.. Still not sowing the onions mind. I'm surprising myself with my resolution about that but it is so tempting to get them sown.

Right, a wee session with teletext catching up with the news and a second cuppa.

Edit note : Vine is chronic slow this morning

                              • More cakes today I'm actually fed up with cake making it's not the cake, why do people always want cake "in the shape of something"? I hate cakes that are footballs, cars, etc. I just want to do flowers, or paint them...I should have had girls anyway, double cake at the ready to be iced ..this is nearly7inches tall! All dowelled so it won't collapse
