  • Morning Nicos your jellies always sound good to eat and we've still got a fair few apples on the trees so I ought to try something different with them. Today I'd planned to freeze some sliced then do a few tubs of grated apples to add to scones.

    • Might sound good, but some are chewey, some are runny, all are cloudy...but they're edible!

          • Morning all, cloudy, nippy and dry
I've decided that no more gardening for us till pre Spring. So I am going to follow BM, Shen and anyone else that's doing things with their plots.
It's lovely reading about others efforts isn't it.
            Have a lovely day folks

            • I need to work out how to turn my new central heating system back on. It took ages to work out how to turn it off in Spring and reversing the method doesn't seem to be working. It has a wifi programmer and no instructions. I've tried googling the instructions which seems to be a YouTube video that's as clear as mud. I've got to get it sorted by the weekend 'cos I've got a friend dog/house sitting while I'm on holiday. Oh and the plumber that fitted it hasn't got a clue either. There must have been a user manual with it but it was never passed on to me.

Oh well, another cup of coffee and Google, then I'll go and do something else for a while. Ho hum.

                • Morning all, been in South Ayrshire since Friday...did ya miss me? No? Oh well...the weather was fab, not one bit of rain and t shirts most days...it is October isn't it? It's another lovely morning this morning so catching up with the washing as there is a nice wee breeze. Hope you are all well. Have to go to the supermarket to stock up but will have a catch up later. Funny being somewhere where there is no internet, t.v. only now and again (internal aerial), a bit therapeutic to be honest.

Anyhoo, off for now and see you all later! Oh a big well done to Calum

                  • Have to say I too am proud of Callum!...that really is quite an achievement...well done lad!

Janie- we had a similar prob with MIL's timer switch last week , but hers was a really old one.
BG replaced it with a very simple one- and set the timers, all she had to do was alter the thermostat accordingly.
DO NOT touch the control panel !
                    OK?
Nope...she's fiddled with it so much it's now broken, and needs replacing again!
                    Ho hum indeed.

                    • Glad to see you inspired with a new idea, BM That hopefully has you out of your funk!

                      Afternoon all

VERY cold today. I nipped out quickly to pick some cherry tomatoes and rushed back in again. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a fair weather gardener. Can't stand being cold. I will get laughed at later for wearing gloves at the school pick up.

Waiting on someone to come round and quote on removing rotten wood from the roof. Looks like he's just turned up sonbest be off.

                      Have a good day all
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                            • Really bonny day up here as well today. I spent a goodly part of it on my knees pulling weeds out of the chuckies around the slabs on the path in the back garden of our old house. Back garden to tidy up and then we can get it on the market. be a real joy when its gone.

                              • AP, I know people complain about weeds, but they are a good excuse for being down on your knees, what were you actualy asking your OH for, and don't worry a lot of us have been in the same position. Jay I wish I had known you were down in South Ayrshire, I could have poped in for a coffee when I was down at Culzean Castle the other day, (it would have saved me having to buy it) Oh lost opportunities, never mind there is always the possibility in the future (keep your purse handy just in case, remember I am skint). Well good night Folks and VC it is now Friday. Goodnight
