Not quite how I would have described it . The journey that is. The vegetables on display were something else especially the tomatoes. That was one of the classes I judged(along with a lady judge named Vanessa). 19 entries each with 12 tomatoes. The stuff of nightmares for a vegetable judge.

So sorry to read about your rabbit, Nicos

Well it was boiling yesterday. I liked that the sun was out but far too hot for me. I think it got to 31/32 in our area and not a wise day for going shopping with my mum.

Thankfully today feels a bit cooler but I made sure I went out gardening super early this morning. Looks like my chard which had a very bad start is now really flourishing and I found loads of runner beans which were hiding! So hard to see between the mass of jungle leaves where all the beans are.

Can't do much in kitchen as water is off. Had to get the plumber in to fix the shower. So no cooking. It will be good if I can't cook all day ha ha She says hopefully!

Nice to see you back AP
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                Morning all ......
Didn't get chance earlier to peep in, and off to work very soon ....
That recipe looks like a good one, Bren - just printed it off and will give it a try probably at the weekend.
It's DH's birthday today - so not cooking tonight......may very well be curry involved .....!
                Have a great Wednesday !!!!

Was hoping for a restful day today to recover from yesterday, but not so. I had to go on a speed awareness course which started early in the morning and was 15 miles away so I had to be up very early. First, switched on bedroom light, loud bang and flash and the electric blew. Fumble around in the dark and ring youngest son (electrician). The instructions he gave didn't work so I had to leave with no shower and no cuppa. At the same time the loo decided to permanently flow water out of the cistern so as I'd had a meter fitted on Monday I had to turn it off.

I tried to deal with the loo myself when I got home but just made things worse and had to call a plumber. Turns out when they fitted the meter they'd let some gubbins into the mains system that had damaged the ball valve. So I've got to get a new one today. Plumber and valve about £50. Thanks Thames Water!

Son turned up in a rush at 6.30pm on his way to another call out and got my electricity back on.

Then I had a meeting to go to.

I'm sorry to hear about the bunny Nicos.

Oh well, better go get the ball valve, I've other things I'd prefer to get on with.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

                    Bren...that sounds yummy.
How long do you have to leave it before it's at it's best to eat?

                    This is mine...
Apple Chutney with Cinnamon and Cardamom - BigOven
I got the recipe from here a few years ago.
It's brill cos you can eat it straight away.
I don't have brown sugar, so use normal granulated.
I sometimes whack in a load of ginger or chilli to vary the flavour a tad too.

Nicos the recipe says 2 weeks but I'm still using last years so mine gets left for longer. Thanks for the recipe link I'll have to give it a go we're got plenty of apples that need using up.

I've just got a pan of yours on the go!
Smells lovely- but I had to substitute fresh toms for chopped tinned ones.....and I may have been a tad heavy handed with the fresh ginger chillies!!!!

I decided to do chilli apple jelly instead of my chutney as well , so the apples are just cooling down a bit ready to start straining.
We're getting loads of windfall apples but they are still very sour, small and quite dry....best to use them up first eh?

Good evening all. After such a dull start to the day the temp got up the mid 20's. Decided to go play pitch and putt. Home for lunch and then myself and OH spent the afternoon walking on the beach. Hope everyone else had a good day.

Good evening Folks, it has been very dull here today, and a bit of a wind blowing, my wife had a washing out but she said there wasnt good drying, what ever that means still working with my new shelving had it up and loaded with some plants, cuttings etc. when I decided to move it, so everything back of the shelves and all the wood for the selves removed, moved it out side and washed the windowsthen repositioned it now back up and looking fine. Well I wish you all a good night, off to watch DCI Banks. Goodnight
