  • For lovers of our countryside.

As lots of you will be aware, Lancashire, where I live, is under threat of Fracking. If it goes ahead here it will open the gates for it to be done all over the country.
We have a group "Frack Free Lancashire" continually campaigning to stop this or any other area of the country having to suffer this dirty industry.
Currently we are fundraising to carry out a judicial review on the Secretary of States decision to overturn the local councils decision to not allow fracking to go ahead.
Please see the link below if you are interested in supporting us.
Via a Crowdfunder project - Fight Fracking in Lancashire.

Brian, welcome to the Grapevine. I wish you every success defeating Fracking.
I've removed the link to the Crowdfunder page as you need Admin's consent for fundraising "adverts".
    Hope you understand!
    Good luck!!

I for one support fracking, there is just to much emotion and not enough fact flying about.

The facts are readily available, it's a matter of doing your own research. I've worked in the offshore oil and gas industry for over 40 years so have a good idea of what goes on.

Lets not get into an argument about this or I'll have to close the thread.
Essentially, this is a gardening forum and we will discuss gardening until the cows come home.

^^^^ So.... are we allowed to discuss it, give opinions, debate in a constructive manner ?...

It's certainly a 'hot' topic, and certainly a subject matter that has contrasting viewpoints (which 'may' lead to heated debate - so I can understand the viewpoint from the Mods to defuse such a situation).

This is a gardening/growing forum - is this subject totally alien to our main interest, or is there a possible correlation/side effect/whatever ? that may impact on what we love doing - I've honestly no idea !!

Due to the ever growing world population size and the need to service this, there is an undeniable demand for sources of energy to ensure our needs are met - is fracking the answer ? - again, I've no idea.

What does sicken me though, is the thought of central government acting in a dictatorship manner against the wishes of local government and the societies living within them.

There's nothing wrong with sensible discussion but once you stray into politics - as you have already, its too divisive.
Sorry Kevin (real name so that shows I'm serious!) I don't want to spend my time keeping an eye on threads like this nor do the other Mods.

Yep VC - I totally understand.

                I'll leave it there.

Edit: although, there have been requests in the past on this site to support certain 'local issues' - that many might view as 'political'.

However, as I stated before- I'll leave it there.
