  • Large moon................

.................just my luck. We should be able to see the biggest moon since 1948 as the moon is closer to the earth..........................and we are cloud bound!

I didn't say I remembered it, but I will be long gone before it happens again!

Cloudy here too - it always seems to be when there is something interesting to see. The number of times I've read that the aurora should be visible only to go outside and be greeted by a sheet of cloud...

The supermoon should still be around tomorrow evening (its actually exactly full around lunchtime tomorrow) so we might get a chance to see it yet.

or technically Tomorrow as it will be at its perigee. It will still be almost as large on the 15th and on the 17th is still going to be enough to mess with seeing the Leonid meteor shower

For those who do get a clear view of the supermoon keep an eye out for the statue of Elvis, WWII bomber and the number 58

Just been out to have a nosey..it doesn't look that big *wry smile*

I know it's all to do with optical illusion/perspective but I've seen much much bigger moons in the past,
when it just seems to be hanging there within reach. (usually over an olive grove or the sea haha! )

I've just seen it too, through a gap in the clouds. If I'd been waiting since 1948 to see it I'd be bitterly disappointed

You should also be aware that due to the closeness and size of the supermoon Werewolf attacks may increase

But on the bright side, Macdonalds may be easier to get to

It was as clear as a bell here, but it didn't look as big as I expected.

It looked much bigger particularly at moonrise and moonset because of the effects of the horizon thingy bending the light.
