Back home now and finally got the tent (and dogs) dry. We must have spent the wettest week on record in the highlands. At least the midges were not a problem, I think they have more sense than to go out in the weather we had to venture out in.

Sorry I could not get to meet up with everyone but the schedule was a bit hectic what with our plan to "just go and have a look at the area" becoming more of a "let's got and look at that house now" type of visit.

Anyway - the east coast beats the west. Dryer generally but not last week! So next year we will be seriously looking for our "retirement plot" somewhere north of Inverness.

When it stops raining I must get to the plot because if stuff has grown like the back lawn at home I won't be able to get through the gate.

Glad you had a good time Digger - if a little wet! At least you are under no illusions as to what the weather can be like. Good luck with the hunt for your plot.

Can't believe that was almost 2 years ago. Anyway setting off this week to look at property again. Further to go now (from Wiltshire) so I am flying to Inverness on Wednesday and having two days looking for my dream retirement home. Got lots of appointments so I hope something comes up as "the right one".

Oh I hope you find what you're looking for Digger. But whichever way, have fun looking. Hope the weather keeps up for you - it's been just glorious.

Really hope you find something you like this time round Digger. There is quite a lot of property on the market up round this area just now.

Still very early days yet but we've put an offer on a property and it's been accepted. Just need the OK from a surveyor to take it to the next stage.
I spent 25 years in architecture so although I've not crawled into all the dark corners I can't find anything nasty. I've spoken to the local surveyor in an old pals sort of way so I get to know some of the things that perhaps would not officially go in a report and should get to know the results next week.

Not quite in your area SR but not far away. Close to Beauly so I will be round for some advice and a pint if it all goes through.

I still need to work but OH retires in 3 years so we will have chance to do some work to it before we live full time and then I can still get to Inverness to work. Looking for jobs in the area now and if one comes up I would move tomorrow.

The house will be big enough and the garden is OK. I would have preferred a little more but ... As it's in the country there may be chance to get a bit of "waste" land if I get the time and chance. Planning on a few hens and getting the bees back once we are settled. Need to get a job up there to move full time at the moment but the plan is to try and find work or move when OH retires in 4 years. Either way I can't wait to get back to start making it mine. (subject to contract).

                              Excellent news Dave.
Beauly ain't far - which side are you talking about - Inverness side or Dingwall side ?
We'll need to meet up - and we'll invite Ardroil too - she's Inverness.
