It seems that there will be more grapes in that area than anywhere I've lived in the past.

Got the structural survey back last week, there is nothing major to worry about just lack of maintenance over time. There is a septic tank somewhere but noone seems sure where it is so I might have to venture into unknown depths of undergrowth to hunt it out. Already got a job list to go at. The mortgage should be approved this week then we can fix a date to get the furniture moved in. Should be in time for my summer break so the jobs can start to be ticked off.

As Sarah says, excellent news. Give me a shout when you're coming up and we can arrange a meet.

Planning to have a trip up on 11th, 12th and 13th May. Staying at Dingwall Camping site. Reason for the trip is so that OH can see the house. Believe it or not she has only seen pictures up to now.
Love to meet up this time Dave if you can cope with us and the dogs.

If my OH wanted to buy a house without me having seen it beforehand, he would be in BIG trouble! Takes all sorts, don't it?

Get the story straight please Hilary.
It was OH's idea to get the house, she did all the homework to find it and just sent me up to look at a shortlist of about 10. I took loads of pictures and notes about the houses, area, views, etc. etc. but it was almost certain that the one we are buying would be the best. I am still nervous about what she will make of it when she sees it for herself but we have known each other for so long I don't think it will be too far from what we both like.

I want to see what is being bought, before reaching an irreversible point. Some see it differently. It just wouldn't work for me doing it the way you have done. Like I said, takes all sorts.

Me being an argumentative person at times, it really wouldn't do to provide such a potential minefield of quarrel-fodder, and OH THINKS he knows what I like, and is very often wrong........

The realisation of a dream at last Digger, many many congrats.
I will know exactly how you feel when you move in, as it was my dream fulfilled when I moved here.
If you and OH are a tenth as happy as I have been since moving, then you will be ecstatic.
                        Good luck.

Thanks, we have a bit of time before we retire and the house needs some care and attension so we can get busy over the next few years getting it right. It is nice to know that we have somewhere to make plans for now after moving about with OH work for the past ... years.

We get the keys in two weeks and plan to visit to clean and prepare for our furniture which my son is goining to help me move in later.
Quite excited now that the contract is on its way back to our solicitor now and money has changed hands. Lots of thoughts going through my head about eventually getting bees again and making room for hens as well as a veg plot. After 15 years of moving round the country the though of settling in one place is really exciting.

Your signature line on here has probably never seemed so apt.
Congrats, and as Rat says, hope it all goes well.
