VC the books I have been reading suggest that crowns are better. That being said I do have a pack of Martha Washington seeds that run out this year that I was going to sow between April & May. I may have to look for a home for them on my other allotment.

I'm just gonna make some Plate/Polo shaped trenches with mounds in the middle to droop the roots over, I'll then just cover the whole plant over. I'm not messing about digging trenches...........too much hard work......

Oh - forgot to mention - when you get your delivery of crowns and can't plant them immediately, keep them SLIGHTLY damp so the roots don't dry out or, if they arrive at a convenient planting time, it will do no harm to soak the roots for an hour or two beforehand.I work very hard so please don't expect me to think as well!Comment
