Since I have absolutely what makes a rare one I suppose I could be passing several as I gallop round the Lee Valley on the bike half recall seeing a good few last year. Also as I wander round an RSPB reserve that tends to have a lot growing there also. As I walk that I might make the effort to look next time.
Will never forget the comment someone said about an unusual one growing at the big BT site some years ago - Yes it looks different to the normal ones, but then Sizewell is just along the coast a bit.

Most people wouldn't notice an unusual snowdrop it takes a practised eye and crawling around on your hands and knees looking at the different markings.
Although if you do the winter walk and snowdrop walk at Anglesea Abbey I think most gardeners would notice the very large snowdrops that are on the landscaped part of the walk. Well worth a trip just for the winter gardens.

Ooooo err.
The other snowdrop catalogue has arrived, the one with the expensive ones in.
The cheapest is a tenner and there are half a dozen that are sold by tender.
They have a reserve price on but will probably go for more. Of course the one I like has a reserve price of £120 and the other one is £100. Sooooooo......................
No only kidding, My limit is £40.
Luckily they have one that I do want which is much cheaper than in previous years, by £15. Just hope I will still be alive when the price of the others come down. LOL

My Autumn flowering snowdrops have finished and some of the winter ones are just starting to poke through.
it is always exciting waiting to see which ones will come through first and which ones have survived the year.
Sackcloth and ashes ready if I have lost any.
If your snowdrops are the common ones I will pass on making an offer thanks.

Yep, that is the little beggar. I dug up a clump to redistribute because it was getting overvrowded.
One of the repositioned clumps has flowered but one has not. I checked again this morning and there is signs of leaves coming through, so hopefully it will be OK next year. Happens like that sometimes.
And yes snowdrops do smell.
In my last garden in which I had simply oodles of snowdrops the smell in winter was stunning!! Along with the sarcoccoca.
I am building up my snowdrop stock in this garden. I will be getting a couple of hundred common snowdrops in the green soon.
I have flowers all year round and bees all year round too.

Have just done the rounds of the gardens and most of the snowdrops are poking through.
some will poke through later and then I can see if I have lost any. Then it will be time for sackcloth and ashes, wailing and gnashing of teeth.
And I have found another nursery selling snowdrops. Help, someone take away my credit card.
