  • Growing Friendships too!

I just have to share this with you, fellow grapes!

Having learnt so much in the last few months, GYO-wise, it is the friendships that I've made which are even more important .... and I want to show you what thoughtful and kind-hearted WELLIE sent me through the post this morning - when all I was expecting a few carrot seeds..........

So, in the box were a selection of ripe tomatoes (labelled up for taste testing), the MOST SCRUMPTIOUS peach, a remote control mouse for the cats which has caused much hilarity and the cats haven't had a sniff of it yet, a couple of cheeky face portrait puzzles of me and my mother...oh, and the carrot seeds!

How spot on - Wellie, you are a complete Sweetheart - thank you!

How lovely for you Hazel and how kind of Wellie - but then, she's that kind of person.

Hazel, I am so pleased that you loved the goodie box, but you did rather deserve it.

What these lovely peeps don't know, is that YOU actually started this wave of sending stuff through the post to bring a smile to a face.

I used to work in Advertising, and I mentioned to Hazel one day that I simply adore good adverts, and I loved the Royal Mail advertising campaign that said: "I saw this and thought of you". Because it does give you a right royal excuse to send something very thoughtful to someone that you care about, and make their day, for sheer pennies....
And actually, why would you not want to.....

Not only do Fert'n'Liza get mail on a regular basis these days from Auntie Hazel, which 'blows my frock up' every single time, because she never tells me she's sent it - but a few months back, Hazel visited the old Roman Baths in the lovely city of Bath. A few days later, a beautifully wrapped package arrived for me out of the blue. As I unwrapped each layer, the excitement grew... and when I was down to the final wrapper before I opened the box, it told me that this was, in fact, a genuine artefact from The Roman Baths.

I simply died with laughter when I opened the box and found that it was A Rubber Duck!

The first time my cat got mail... was when Hazel sent her some Catnip Milk-Drop Treats, wrapped beautifully in tissue paper, and each tissue layer had a sprig of fresh Catnip folded between. My cat and I opened the package together on the quarry tile floor of the conservatory, and my cat genuinely thought it was Christmas come early....

May I graciously rest my case?!

And yes, it is such a lovely feeling to know that you have made someone smile today. I know only one thing: It makes ME smile....

Best not let my moggies read this - they'll get ideas and go for pester-power in November!

It's lovely to know someone cares enough to stick a stamp on something isn't it? I have a friend in the quilting world who does this. Random acts of kindness it's called. Bring 'em on, I say!

Well, I am truly inspired now to go find something interesting to post to a few 'long lost' friends! You just cant beat those random acts of kindness as flummery so aptly put it.
