  • Bin men who don't look to check that the boxes (yes I have 2) that are only to contain plastic / glass and tins are actually empty before they place them back in the path and put the lid inside in the rain, which means they must have seen they had not emptied it all !!

Telephone calls from companies telling me that they

"Believe that I was involved in a road traffic accident"

No but my space rocket was parked on mars and a Venusian drove his space rocket into the side of my vehicle causing damage, but was not actually in the vessel when it happened some eight universal years ago, as I was being entertained by a three breasted woman from the planet Varg at the time.

"Do you remember the actual date of this accident" - What the Fudge !

It then descended into how I believed these companies were parasites that actually promoted artificial claims and higher insurance costs and that if I could I would place them all against a wall and execute them come the revolution.

With a last request to remove me from whatever list they had purchased in order to keep pestering me as this was the third such call in under a week.

Yesterday there was a man spraying white lines around potholes.

If they really took HSE seriously they'd sort out the people who let holly trees and roses overhang pavement at eye level. There's also brambles at calf level and some conifers too. This is just in my short road!

      • The council get so many claims for compensation, they're sorting out these problems. Home owners not trimming their bushes would lead to a claim against the homeowner which the council have nothing to do with. It's good they're attempting to fix the pot holes but they must always remember, like they do,it's future work for them if they leave cracks & bumpiness etc.

Where I live this month I've noticed the Christmas season of road rudeness, don't people turn all impatient & aggressive in this season of goodwill! People used to give way here & wave all friendly drivers but now they're blocking the roundabouts so people going different directions can't get out at all, that never happens usually! Driving right on your tail like it's going to get them there any quicker,it's crazy, makes you want to stay in,these people must stay indoors all year & venture out only at Christmas to bah humbug everyone!

        • ^^^^^^^Ah but the injuries caused would fall on the house holders home insurance not the councils.

          • JJ the local authority are responsible for serving notices on land owners under S154 Highways Act 1980 to get their trees etc sorted and if they don't council can do it and bill them. It would be interesting to know if one could sue the council for failing to enforce the law.

You have my sympathy on the bad driving. We're not even safe on pavements with railings. Last Friday minutes before I'd walked to Tesco a car had gone through the railings and onto the pavement.

            • My rant....a leaking roof which doesn't seem to want to be cured by simple means.
Looks like a major ripping out of ceiling, insulation and slates and repointing of chimney is going to be needed after all
Time and money which I would much rather have gone into the restoration of my lounge. Looks like that might end up being on hold for yet another year....one day...one day...

                    • Gee that's one big bang, someone must have smelt that before it went. It must have been a near perfect explosive mixture to do that much damage I have only known two like that in all my years and there were fatalities in both of them.

Why do bad things happen at Christmas?

                      • ^^^^^^^^ I really hope there are no fatalities. My rant. My next door neighbour, who I thought was a nice neighbour has had their gardener dump a load of large tree branches in my garden. I know they are from my trees but the law says they can cut back to the boundary and OFFER the branches back to me. They aren't supposed to just toss them over the fence as this is classed as fly tipping. I don't want to fall out with her but this is the third time she's done it in 18 months and I don't have the ability to deal with it.

                          • The lady mixed up in that explosion has sadly died in hospital.

I said I have seen two like that but that is not quite true, never have I seen such widespread damage....

                              • Im surprised at this - I just phoned the council to see if they recycle the fat ball tubs (bird feed),I've got a load & I don't want to put them in the recycle bag if they don't recycle them, they said it's hard plastic & they don't & to put it in the grey bin,I said that's quite a lot for landfill,he said "yes unfortunately" I said what about the recycle centre in town & he said yes they have the facilities. What if I didn't know about that recycle centre or couldn't get there? Why wasn't he more concerned about recycling, working at the council in the recycling dept? What are we paying these people for?!
