  • Sorry to hear about the white rot and stair lift, Cad What a shame.

Been raining solid since yesterday afternoon. I also felt silly going into the greenhouse to water - I'm sure the neighbours wondered what on earth I was doing filling up a watering can from the water butt while I was getting soaked ha ha

Hope it clears up tomorrow as most things were growing rather nicely so don't want a long spell of rain and cold setting everything back.

Have a good day if you can whatever you're all doing.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

    • Sorry from me to Cad - hope it gets sorted.

Got back this afternoon from epic trip to my grandmothers funeral - 6 1/2 hour drive yesterday and same today. Worth it just for the look on my mum's face when she saw me. Good to see all the family gathered together to say goodbye.

Children happy to see me when I picked them up from school - daddy did a good job though.

One of my garden arches, laden with peas, has blown over in the wind, but looks salvageable, unlike 4 courgette plants which have been slugged

Altogether just glad to have been with extended family & now back home for cuddles with my little family. Nos da all.
      Another happy Nutter...

      • Good evening, the weather this morning was quite poor then it deteriorated with heavy rain most of the morning, as the weather was poor OH decided I should do a bit of papering for my son as he had a toilet that he wanted papered, but before I started I had to go to school to see one of the grandsons off on his school trip, I was asked to go as his mum has to be in her job for nine O'clock, so I stood waiting for him going to the bus to give him a wave, water running out me he walked to the bus sat in it and never saw me, he was too busy talking to his pal, I then papered the toilet, its not a big room but so many cuts and pipes, and a towel rail, I hate towel rails, it took me longer to paper behind that than doing most of the room, but its finished now, and as OH asked me to do it for him that should be some brownie points for me, I think I/we will have a long lie tomorrow. Well I wish you all a good day tomorrow, don't forget to pass on a smile, with a bit of luck I should be laughing. Goodnight

            • Morning Crew - I feel a visit to the allotment is in order today! I told Acorn enough is enough, they have had too many chances and I have no faith in them as a company to be able to service the machine as they can't even deliver and install it and have requested a refund, they could not do that because they took my details down incorrectly, and phoned me back to check which digit they had wrong.

So I have contacted another lift provider and they are coming to measure the stairs and the wife to give us a quote Thursday afternoon. Let's hope they are not as inept as Acorn are, they are more expensive but you get a two year guarantee and services not one, they also have a choice of colour of chair which Acorn didn't offer.

              • Morning all, fingers crossed Cad
A lovely bright and blowy day here. Washing machine is on
No more casualties from the wind thank goodness, but quite a few bits have been tied up
Nothing planned for today, apart from a bit of card making for the charity shop.
                Have a great day all

                • Hope everything works out well, Cadalot. Not even getting your details right is a bit alarming!

Have dug over a bed for sweetcorn. Soil looks lovely after the rain. Mr Snoop also says he'll do a bit of rotavating for me. I'm also planning to get the winter cabbages in at last this evening. Might actually be a bit late, as they've been in their modules for ages, but I haven't had time to do anything with them till now.

Paid drudgery today and tomorrow, but am thinking of taking gardening leave on Friday to make the most of the moist soil after all the rain. It's all drying up rather fast in the sun and wind, so better now because otherwise it might be never for the rest of the summer.

                    • Afternoon all! It took ages to get to sleep last night worrying about my poor little plants in the wind.

From a quick survey there doesn't seem too much damage - I think the squashes may be the worst off. The wind's supposed to drop this afternoon so I'll go have a proper inspection once I finish work.

Hope no one's suffered too much damage

                      • Afternoon all,

Hope you have more joy with this new stair lift company, Cad. The other one seemed totally incompetent.

Well one of my tomato plants was snapped in half with the wind last night. No point in salvaging as it was through the main stem. Luckily have lots of spares so will plant another one out.

Everything else just seems a bit battered but ok.

A lot of my onions are now bolting I think they have been confused by the weather so not a good year for my onions. Will be pulling up and eating the flowering ones as they are.

                          • Been out all day on granddad duties, that storm last night/this morning did a fair bit of damage, branches snapped of the big silver birch, new rose damaged as well some of the others, beans, leeks and onions all damaged, time will tell us what will recover. Bit of a disaster, though everything in the greenhouse is fine.

                            • Good evening, not been a good day today, we had the boy's this morning, I lost a day on Sunday and was a day behind in my thinking, but after dropping them off at school we went for some shopping, when we came back home we went up to our sons to let his new pup out, OH decided to bring in the washing that was out that our DiL had hung out before they went to work, while doing that she tripped and fell and I had to take her to hospital, where we discovered she has a broken wrist, but I must say the treatment at the hospital was absolutely first class, I can't praise the nursing and medical staff high enough, but guess who had to bring in our washing when we got home, OH was ok to go out for a meal this evening, and I paid, as she let me go into her purse for the money. Well I hope we can have a sleep tonight, as I am quit sure the pain will kick in just as I am drifting off to sleep, well no matter what the weather is tomorrow pass on a smile. Goodnight

                              • Sorry to hear about Mrs rary You'll have to do all the housework now instead of the little bits you've been doing This is the voice of experience as I broke my wrist a few years ago and definitely couldn't do any washing up, or cleaning, or ironing. Not sure I've done much since actually!
I hope its not too painful.

I'll wish you all Nos da as I need plenty of beauty sleep! See you tomorrow.
