  • Mornin n'alln'all!

We seem to have an orange lawn

Funny how when it's dried to a crisp, then we have heavy rain , it glows orange before turning green!
    Rather pretty really!
Twas a nice change not having to water the seedlings yesterday

I have a choice of Ironing, weeding, swimming and cooking today....whatever you do...enjoy!

    • Guess what? The leeks are going in this morning!

Bit hot already, so I'd better step on it.

      Have a good one, everyone.

      • Good morning all from a rain washed Dublin.
We have monsoon rain this morning. Unfortunately I have to brave it to go for my eye tests. Umbrells and raincoat at the ready although my hubby will drive me in to the city.
Hope to be home by lunchime and maybe the weather will have improved.
        Have a good day all.

          • Morning it's dry this morning but cold and windy! Don't think I've felt this cold in June for a while. Supermarket today, I seem to visit more often now that son is back home!
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever the weather.

            • Dull and dry up here today, not very warm, the greenhouse had a max yesterday of only 15 degrees, looks like the same for today. Outside looks well after the rain, might get out first courgette this week and the Romanesque and white cabbage are hearting up too. Tatties must be 3 feet tall and the brussels and swedes are doing really well under the netting as are the celeriac. I grew some of this last year under the mini tunnel and it didn't swell up, just hope it does better this year. Onions and leeks are still going strong, trying using old cardboard loo roll and kitchen roll holders to blanch the leeks, no idea if it will work, it's got 2 chances.

              • Good evening a dry cloudy day here highest temperature was 16c but felt a lot warmer when out the wind, got a washing out and dried, was going to do some ironing but OH told me to leave it, she muttered something about me moaning too much, which just isn't true, I was just leaving the ironing till it was needed, had the two dogs all day today, and Poppy followed Daisy all over the place, I think Daisy was quite happy to go home this evening. Well have a good day tomorrow and pass on a smile. Goodnight

                  • Morning all,
Watched the sun rise through the kitchen window and noticed that my peace lily in the cold corner of the kitchen is flowering. Am so pleased, I've never managed 3 years of flowering before. (or any really!) Now if it could just have a chat with the orchids...

Also pleased that I went riding for the first time in about 8 years yesterday and today I am not walking like John Wayne.

Time for coffee and a bit of paid drudgery - anyone want some? Former, not latter.

                          • Morning all, Bren, that's exactly what happens with my clothes lol
Very dull here, but no rain forecast, so back to watering.
I have got kale and sprouts under cover in the garden. They are getting quite tall, well the sprouts are.
When is it safe to take the covers off?
Anyway, have a great day, work this afternoon for me

                            • Morning, weather people lied. They said there would,be no rain for us today, guess what?

Cad, does that leave us with a lot of scope?

                              Have a great day everyone.

                              • Lovely and cool this morning. Would be perfect for gardening except, like Sparrow, I've got paid drudgery ahead for the day. I'd ask Rary if that was allowed, but doubtless I'd get something back about unpaid drudgery!

NS, I don't keep my sprouts under cover. If you've got them covered up against butterflies (and hence caterpillars), when do the butterflies stop coming round where you are? I presume you could take the covers off any time, but if you do, you'll have to take measures. Me I squish or squirt and stamp, depending on how big the caterpillars are.

                                Have a good day everyone.

Edited to add: Sorry, shouldn't have said I'd ask Rary. It's Cadalot. Not sure why the notion of paid versus unpaid should have made me think of Rary!
