Ok, I know its summer and its also holiday time and the evenings are long.....BUT, where is everyone?!!??

Finally got outside once the deluge stopped. Going need some drainage in top corner, it was like a pond (drains in from sloping field and forest behind) , paddled about in it retrieving compost for chilli plants job.
Took dog back out while dry then not much else..and didn't go food shopping, the fridge is bare !

Tow of you Grapes asking much the same question, which I have thought myself,quite a number of regulars missing recently,is it, not enough veg. growing discussed, and too much other topics i.e. Chatback and the likes, and yet this, to me, is the best gardening forum for information and help that I have came across, there is no nastiness or back biting tolerated, thanks to good Moding, and everyone seems friendly, posts may go off in a tangent, but then if you are talking to a friend at the allotment or over the garden fence does that not happen just the same, so hopefully the missing Grapes are just too busy at the moment, or find that their missing the good company that is on here and will be back soon, but no matter old and new are always made welcome

I crashed out at 9 pm last night!
Trying to get on top of the preserving rather than bunging things in the freezer!
I've nearly managed to empty a small fridge sized one which was full of fruit from previous years, so hopefully I can get that defrosted!
I think it has more frost inside than storage space left!...shame on me!
Cor....*wonders what she'll do with a whole empty freezer....

Must make sure I label things better...the biro gets rubbed off over the years of being shuffled around.
Yesterday I nearly ruined a batch of what I thought was strawberry and blackcurrant jam.
Turned out the 'blackcurrants' were in fact sloes which had been soaked in gin
Talk about bitter!
Managed to hoik them all out part way through cooking and it's actually edible...interesting, but edible!

Yes thought the same about everyone disappearing. This is the best forum I've seen...that's why I joined...but I have no idea why the regulars are MIA, hopefully just the growing season although I'm sure VC said in the winter that once the growing season was here lots of peeps would be back, so it must have been going on for a while?
Anyhoo it's my turn for the hairdressers this morning so I'm off for a cuppa first and will see you later.

Yes, I've noticed the regulars arnt around but also threads we're updating a lot more, when I look in now hardly anything has happened. A lot of lurkers but no posting .

Off to Gloucester today to visit Aunty, still in hospital
Picked kale for hubby and cooked it last night. Nobody told me it cooks down to nearly zero.
I started with a saucepan full and ended with two spoonfuls
Lesson learned.
Picking our first red tomato this weekend, loads more to follow I hope

Thanks for mentioning that, NS. I've got four Pentland Brig plants in and wasn't sure if that would be enough (not grown kale before). So I'll bung a few of the extras in to be on the safe side.

Hot and sunny here. So I'm taking refuge indoors. Friend coming for supper tonight. Mr Snoop is a liver fan and found a butcher's selling kid liver (as in small goat, not small child, obviously). Never had that, so should be an interesting experiment.

Happy Fried egg day! (That's what we big kids call it)
I'm up to my eyes in plum and peach jam - not literally but I'm about to start cooking Always worries me in case it doesn't set.
All this chat about missing Grapes - people come, people go, people come back. Personal circumstances and priorities change - as your's did, Container Gardener! Its always nice to see people return but not everyone does.
I'm not posting as much these days as its summer - lots to do outdoors and I'd rather be out there than on here - nothing personal
Right, must go, I have jars to sterilise!
